New wifi card for G75V

Hi every one.

I have an Asus G75V that I would like to get on my 5ghz network.

But as I can read, it can only run on the 2.4 GHz network (Atheros AR9485WB-EG Wireless Network Adapter)

Isn't it possible to throw another network card into the machine so it can access 5ghz? (possibly which would you recommend with BT?)

Asus laptops don't have whitelist or blacklist, so if it fits and you have drivers for it, then generally speaking it should work. You replace the current one with an upgraded version typically.

They don't appear fun to get to (this is a G75GW teardown, it's under the keyboard, right side middle of board on this type timestamp 7:25, 10:40)

Thank you very much for the information.

Do you know what such a model card is called?

So I know if it fits my laptop.

at a guess, should be able to confirm in your manual
looks like - PCI Express Micro

PCI Express Micro (is Half Height) which has a 52 pin edge connection and is roughly half the size of the PCI Express Mini card. These cards should be able to support 802.11a/b/g/n wireless LAN connections and Bluetooth as well.

I remember once having to blank off one the pins on Intel PCI Express Micro to allow to work with a Toshiba laptop. Anyway I can provide you the information of you come across this issue.

Atheros QCA9377 on PCI Express Micro, to me, seems to tick the boxes your after, you have earlier version of the manufactures card, and there cheap, so if does not work out, no big deal. (ebay etc have them)

Hope you find this of help.
