I bought a new ROG Strix G17 (2023) G713 last week and I have been having some issues with a new Samsung 990 evo ssd I've been trying to use with it. The drive would disconnect as soon as I tried to write to it (including in the bios) while it was in the second m2 slot. Switching it to the first m2 slot fixed some of the issues, but it still disconnects occasionally when I write to it. I tried an older ssd in the second m2 slot, as well as the ssd that came with the laptop and both have worked without issues.
I have updated to the latest bios and drivers provided by asus, as well as updated the firmware for the ssd (with samsungs software). Support has not been especially helpful.
I also put the 990 evo into my old laptop and transferred about 600GB to it without issue and it passed a diagnostic scan provided by samsung.
Has anyone encountered the same issue? The only thing I can think of is that it is an issue with the drive or both of the m2 slots(unlikely, i know).
