New motherboard, old Graphics card

Hey Forum,

I am building a new pc using an ASUS B550M-Zaku AM4 motherboard. I am waiting a while until I can get a Graphics card at an affordable price. In the meantime, can I use my old card on the new motherboard? My existing card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 (PCI 2.0 x 16), the motherboard uses PCIe 3.0 x 16, is the new motherboard backward compatible to the older spec?

Regards

Hi Riffing,

Welcome to the forum. Yes, PCI 3.0 is backwards compatible, so it should give you no problems.
But regarding your new build..... it's time for a nice graphic card upgrade 😛
