Hi all,

I am new member here, happy to finally register on this board, tried at home and i failed, but i successfully registered at work.

Well, i just bought the motherboard [Rampage IV Extreme] to replace my current one Gigabyte X79, it is a new machine and i couldn't wait to buy RIVE, so since 3 weeks or so i didn't use my new computer much, but i am thinking to use my new mobo the R4E, and i want to know which power supply i should go with and what cooling system to buy, i have Intel i7-3930K, the graphics card will be changed/replaced later as i am not thinking to use my current one [Gigabyte GTX 660Ti], so i am looking for your recommendations here please.

And if you can recommend me a good RAM if needed, i am happy with what i have already but maybe there is something better [I have Corsair Dominator Platinum 1600MHz 32GB].

Your ram should be fine.

And I would suggest any well known brand of PSU of greater than 800W for a modern card. if you are ever only going single card then 800W will be more than enough.

Ok, i will keep the RAM then.
Well, this machine will be for many things, such as gaming, video processing, photos editing, design or CAD,...etc.

Cool, i will keep the RAM then.

I am not sure if i will go with 1 card or SLI or two and more cards, so i want to be on safe side that i can be ready for anything in the future, i am always checking out new products and buy immediately once i have the budget, so i have to be open that anytime i may add/replace/upgrade parts in my computer, also i may try to OC the motherboard or the processor or the GPU or all, i look at 1000-1200W PSU but on another site they told me that even 750W is more than enough and 850 can be overkill, so they told me that 1000W is waste of money.

True you will not use near all the power available of a 800W PSU. But that is how it should be. Under max load I only want my PSU working at 60%. And for me the difference in cost between a 750W and 1000W PSU is how much in your part of the world?

I see, someone in a local computer shop near home told me it is better to have say 800-1000W than having say 600-750W, getting the PSU to use about 40-60% of its max load is better than making it to go up to 85-100% of its max, and i accept that idea, i can never tell when i can go up to or closer to the Max power, i want to be on safe side in all cases, and the budget is not an issue at all if i buy something worthy.

Folks tend to only look at the maximum usage when doing the maths. Yes the system will work and yes it is within the rated wattage or amperage. However what we as users are looking at is continual usage. Day after day, month after month... you get the picture.

So how to work it out? Or more important is it even worth working it out. No, just get a quality 1000W PSU and be confident that your system will not ever be at rick due to a PSU deficiency.

Now you are going to ask what Brand do I recommend I would guess.

Go do some reading about PSUs from the only online review site I trust for PSU reviews

Yes, it is always which brand to go with when choosing to buy something, be at computers, cameras, accessories and so on.

Thanks for the link, i will give it a read and see what i can find, but the problem is that i live in UAE in the middle east, and i tend or try to buy locally only or first, if i can find a brand that is top rated or highly recommended in local that will be great, if not then i have to suffer to fill my credit card and order it somewhere overseas and shipped to me.

Also i asked about the cooling system too, power alone is not what i look for only, i need a good decent cooling system to use for my rig.

I am a big fan of air cooling but the sealed water cooling units seem to be the flavour of the moment. So any of them will do the job.

Megahalems Rev.B is for me the one to get. http://www.prolimatech.com/en/products/detail.asp?id=155
