New Build X99

Hi Everybody,

My old computer is historical haha, I can't play modern games and it made me angry so I decided ima get my self a new rig 🙂
I am from Israel and everything here is overpriced (a lot), but at least ill have warranty 🙂
I did a lot of research and finally came here to ask people for suggestions and thoughts 🙂
Here is the build i'm thinking:

Motherboard : Asus rampage V extreme
CPU : I7-5820k
CPU : Cooling: Noctua NH-D15 ??????
GPU : Zotac 980 Ti Amp Extreme
PSU : 1000w Corsair
RAM : Ripjaws V DDR4 4x8 3000mhz
SSD : Pcie SSD Intel 750
Case: Corsair 900D

This is what I think ill be getting, sorry if missed something.
My current problem is cooling cpu/fans in case, I never tried water cooling but I always used noctua products.
I will be overclocking the 5820k to 4-4.2 and the pc will be used for gaming and streaming in future.
Games mainly would be Armored Warfare and Dota 2, but I would love to try new games as well 🙂

I would really appreciate any thoughts and suggestions on the build 🙂

Thanks everyone!

I only could find 2400mhz Ripjaws 4 and not 3000 😞
I also added Samsung 850 EVO 🙂

Not much to add here, the folks on this forum do a good job. Good choice in parts, for sure.

Suh-WEEEEET! I think you will be very happy that you added the 850 EVO to be your permanent load carrier (act as your boot drive, store your operating system and other permanent storage, etc.), freeing up your Intel 750 Series to rock your gaming and not be impeded by anything else, especially since you got the 400GB like I have--we do not need to have anything but games on that smaller drive so it can still have a significant number of games on it and still operate at optimum levels.

Hi Everyone,

A quick question regarding the 5820k and PCIE slots/performance.
I just read the manual on the motherboard that PCIE_X8_4 (SLOT 6) will be disabled if using 28 cpu, that was my slot for intel pcie ssd 😞
The 1st slot is gonna be taken by GPU, so that leaves us with slot 2 and 4.
If I install the SSD won't the GPU get x8 ? I might be wrong

Assuming you can even use the PCIE_X16_1 slot at all. As stated earlier, the NH-D15 extends over the first PCIe slot because of its huge size. But if you manage to fit your GPU in the PCIE_X16_1 slot, then install your Intel 750 into the PCIE_X16/X8_3 slot.

And that is 'if' you get the 40-laned 5930K CPU and not the 28-laned 5820K CPU (16 + 16 = 32 lanes).

The 5820K will be ok. With the GPU is installed in the PCIE_x16_1 slot and the Intel 750 in the PCIE_X16/X8_3 slot, the GPU will be running at X16 as long as he doesn't add anything else to the mix.

With the 28-laned CPU, I am curious, myself, to know if he has a GPU in the 'red' PCIE_x16_1 slot, an Intel 750 Series add-in card in the 'red' PCIE_x8_3 slot, but then puts the USB 3.1 card in the 'black' x4 slot, will his 1st 'red' slot still be at x16 (16 + 8 + 4 = 28)?

After debating with you guys and myself for quite a while, I changed it to 5930k 🙂

Good choice, why not get a chip that can use all 40 lanes if you think you might need them.
