Hi guys, i am at the planning stage for my new build, here are a few details and afterwards some of the things that i need advice with

Budget: around £2000
Main uses of intended build: Gaming
Parts required: All parts except i will be using 2 x 2GB HD7870 from current build
Monitor resolution: 1920 x 1080 dual screen
Storage requirements: SSD for OS, 1TB minimum for data
Will you be overclocking: yes
Other Requirements: water cooling, 2 loops - dont want to skimp on this

this is a list of parts i have so far decided on:

parts i need advice on

rads i am going to run 2 loops, 1 for gpu, 1 for everything else. i plan a 560 for the gpu and think i can fit a 280 in the bottom with the 560 and a 240 in the front 5.25 bays underneath res - i currently have a watercooled system, it works, but i didnt think about fins per inch and cubic flow meters when i built it, i want to consider these things for this new build but i am very confused wether id want a low fpi or high fpi in conjunction with the fans i want to use, i think low fpi?

if thats the case, i was looking at:
560 - http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/Hardware-Labs-Black-Ice-SR-Series-560mm-Quad-Radiator--...
280 - http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/Hardware-Labs-Black-Ice-SR-Series-280mm-Dual-Radiator--...
240 - http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/Hardware-Labs-Black-Ice-SR-Series-240mm-Dual-Radiator--...

i hope i haven't bored you guys too much! i welcome any comments on any of my choices of hardawre, you might see something i have missed but hopefully i have been thorough enough with my research. i look forward to your feedback

I think, you did your homework...

Just mentioning that adding watercooling to the system's memory won't give you too much benefits... it's more like for a bling factor and in no way for performance increase...

I like the SSD+HDD setups (OS and applications on the SSD and data on the HDD)... the Samsung 830 and 840 series are known to be reliable... for data, I'm using WD Caviar Blacks (2TB), but you can get something slower too if you don't need to access the drive too many times...

The connectors are called fittings... 🙂 The compression fittings seems more secure for me, but they're more expensive... you do need secure clamps on the barb fittings... I like the 3/8"ID / 5/8"OD tubings (Primochill Advanced LRT)...

Thanks for your reply Zka17

yeah i just wanted the memory block just for bling, i'm aware it doesn't do much 🙂

what did you think of the rads?

I think that SR-1 series are the only useful rads from HW Labs... at least in everyday use... - with those Corsair fans they should work just fine!

have you tought of what to controll those fans whit or?

Zka17 - would you recommend any other rads?

kkn - the mobo has something like 7 fan headers, and the psu ive selected comes with a 5.25 bay fan controller for something like 5 fans. but in all honesty ill probably have the fans set to max most of the time

I would double-check the Alphacool NexXxos radiators... they're coming in different thickness and I think they're not bad at all... 🙂

Zka17 - ah ok, alphacool do this in the 560 size - http://www.alphacool.com/product_info.php/info/p1032_Alphacool-NexXxoS-UT60-Full-Copper-560mm.html all be it mighty thick! they also do a thinner one http://www.alphacool.com/product_info.php/info/p1033_Alphacool-NexXxoS-XT45-Full-Copper-560mm.html
i think if im going to have 2 rads even with fans only on 1 side of each, the thicker ones might not all fit in the bottom of the case while allowing me space for the cooling pipes. the second option would definatley allow me space for the pipes. so meybe if i use the acool xt45 rads in my build i will get better performance than the sr-1 rads?

Zka17 - also, do you think that i will have the right size rads per loop, or is it overkill? having a 240 and 280 just for cpu and mobo and memory... although i dont think i would feel safe with just a 280 on that loop
