OK been sitting here trying to figure out how to start this forum. Other than to say HELLO ROG! hope you can help a Self employed (Grooming/Boarding 17 yrs.) Wife with a New PC. Build for my hubbie. 6-17 yrs.ago we always built our own! then no more pc shows to buy parts then got busy with shop! So we had to buy factory built and then you still had to upgrade. Lots of work taking care of other peoples pets with 24/7 care. when pet owners are on vacation. We are right next to a Army Base so we get a lot of soldiers pets in from all over the World had a War shepherd in few weeks ago that just got back from the WAR ! Don't forget the WAR Dogs Or our brave Troops! SALUTE!
Alright on with the build This all started with a new game coming out,3/5/13 SIMCITY we pre-bought so he got to try a demo for a few hours.well demo said vd card to slow and had to set to low settings. have you ever seen a grown man whine? I asked him if he wanted some cheese! LoL he has a i3 pc. Simcity wanted i5 so I said time for a build so here I am. All of the stuff listed we had or I just purchased. waiting on cpu last thing.

(I Know could have bought a cheaper case but I was tired of the tipical boring case so I went for some thing unusual 4 xlg.led fans. 2 size of a plate! can't wait to see it all lit up. air or water cooled please check it out before commenting on it.To much to list.) (bought)
Cooler Master Silent Pro M - 850W 80 PLUS Bronze Power Supply with Modular Cables (RS850-AMBAJ3-US)(bought) personal I think it's semi-mod. Main power cables are permanent thats fine. Lots of cables supplied, but I only needed a few, so I would've had a mess to tie up. also I installed on bottom of case with fan up like shown. is that correct? Case has bottom full of holes. if I need to flip it. When we built pc's.In the past P.S. were always in the top blowing out the back of the case. With fan on top.

He will be running 5.1 surround sound anyway) (mobo bought came in 3/5/13 so I finally got to start his build.(His WOW was down anyway 5.2 upgrade 8 hrs. so he watched me! My hands are small so I have always done the wiring. Boy was I glad I bought this case. I was able to use the rubber cut outs for the water cooling and was able to run all wiring through the back to make it look very neat inside. (Not like the old days of ribbons huh!)

He runs 2 pc 24/7 never turning them off. 1-3yrs. 1-5yrs. We have always thought turning on and off all the time was worse on components. The 1 has to run 24/7 because of a program called AW he is a dj so the radio station runs 24/7 by a few people.
Since I bought a VD card OC, will I have to make any changes to the MoBo or cpu? In the software maybe? (newbie)
Well guess what? Just walked in the office/really his pc room ha!ha! anyway I asked him which hard drive he was going to erase for the new build! He looked at me like I had 4 heads! Now all of a sudden they are all important most have music on them so I could see his point!(yes he does have backups 3, 1 is at his bro.home just in case. He had a hard drive crash and lost some music hard to get it all back in)
SO NOW I GUESS I'M BUYING A HD. don't know what brand? at least 1-TB HELP! ASAP! (will have to order from amazon becauce they built a hub 30-40 miles from me. order the asus blu/ray player on fri. got it mon.) thats fast! or some bestbuys around here have limited hd. yes I did look in to ssd drive very exp. and low mb. games now days would eat that space up quick! also 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm?
Just walked in to ask Q. he has a spot light on new build! door open on case (as it has henged part glass door) he looks like a kid in the biggest pc parts store ever! lol cpu will be here soon I hope. he hasn't downloaded his copy of SIMCITY yet the game that started this build! waiting on this pc.GO FIGURE!
Ok almost done since I'm typing this(should say pecking this as I can't type!)He can type 50+ wpm, Makes me sick!lol had to replace keyboards cause he warez the letters off! solve that back lit keys! Now watch the led burn out! lol
Ok little about me. I used to use a desk top pc til my monitor looked like I had a 19" TV on my desk! lol So I switched to a laptop 16 yrs ago. Don't laugh yet! It was a compaq presario 1810 1st one with dvd in it! Paid 3800.00 w/tax! Now you can laugh! Hey still works and looks new I have old files on floppy,and the only way I can read them is with THAT Laptop. The one I currently use is 2+ yrs.old bought from gateway p171x 17.3 screen is been fine til I tried to install bass pro Strike king game pd. 50 bucks for it. So Now in 3 mo.(for my B-day!) I will be buying a new Laptop. I picked the asus G75vw. because of the gtx vd card have noticed 660/670? I would keep the LT I have now if you could upgrade vd card like the mem./hd. the only thing I don't like about g75vw is the dvd-rom drawer. mine has no pull out drawer just sucks dvd in. I don't use the touch pads eather. I prefer the logitec anywhere mx mouse.
Dave's PC Knowledge starts back in the 80's while in the Army they put him on the Sperry univac system 80. So big the AC had to have AC.lol Next was the Tandy TRS 80 w/heavy printer! We still have it! And it still looks new.(we have a empty glass show case tempted to put tandy pc in it, W/hammer on top,and sign saying (break in case of emergency) for a pic. Then we went on to ibm,packard bell,ect, then started building our own. Couldn't find parts local any more so started buying pre-built. Now we are tired of the no name crap they put in them. so here we are, My 1st build in years.
So far he's been happy with my choices for this build.
