New build - Asus ROG Crosshair X670e Extreme pcie lanes

Hi all,
I’m looking to build a new AMD rig with the X670e chipset. What is really unclear to me is how the pcie lanes are handled between the GPU and M2 SSDs. I would like to buy the Crosshair x670e Extreme version but when I look at the manual it looks like if I add two Gen5 SSDs, the GPU will run on at x8 instead of x16. Am I right or do I miss something ?*
Thanks in advance and cheers.

Enable in the Bios for NVME to be active Also note that page 1-12  states to enable in Bios.

Note that M2-2 has to be enabled in Bios and this will step down the PCIEx16_1 to x8 speed and PCIEX16_2 will run x4

If you are using the Add-on card then reference this. Page 1-8 of the manual states" Please Enable the PCIE Gen5 Redriver Driving in the Bios Setting. The item allows you to maximize the PCIE Gen 5 M.2 Device Preformance from Add-on Card when installed on the PCIEx16_2 Slot which is optimized by Asus redriver.
