I have just completed putting together a new desktop. and im stumped with one major problem.
the build:
z890 extreme
intel ultra 9 285k 24 core 5.7 ghz
rtx 4080 oc gpu
vengeance 192gb ddr5 dram 7000mt/s
1200w psu
the problem:
when i start the desktop, i notice the windows chime sounds a little off. then in the desktop, i notice a small hesitation in mouse movement at times, like the pc stutters. when i load a game, i have been using outlaws for testing, as the game begins to load, there is an intel screen and the sound stutters and the graphics seem to stutter as well. then as the title screen continues to load the stuttering gets worse and worse until either the game crashes to the desktop or stays running where i can try to make selections but i have to time my clicks of the mouse or controller to make a selection in between stuttering.
what ive tried:
done all software and firmware updates. no help
gpu driver update and removing nvidia audio drivers. no help
removing all but one nvme drive. no help
swapping gpu riser cable. no help
adjusting screen resolution and disconnecting one monitor. no help
adding a separate psu (1500w) to power just the gpu. no help
multiple fresh starts of windows
bios set to factory default multiple times and ive tried every thing every youtube video ive watched has suggested.
made sure psu was plugged into wall outlet and not power strip
used nvidia app to optimize game and game crashes immediately. set game optimization to lowest setting on app and no help, lots of stuttering. and this game has played fine on and 8 year old build similar to the one ive described here with older technology
and im sure ive tried a few other things i cant remember at the moment.....
so any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. im at a loss.

Hello jester3798
The issue is, you're combining memory kits. There is no memory kit such as 192GB 7000MT.
1) Shut down your pc and unplug the power supply cable.
2) Install one memory kit (which should be 2 sticks) in slots A2-B2 (2nd & 4th slots from the cpu).
3) Press and hold the clear cmos button for 3 seconds.
4) Boot up your pc.
How is your pc working after this?

You're welcome
Make sure you match up the two kits and use only one kit.

i dont understand "match up"... i have 4 sticks, all the same. mother board says it supports 192gb

Ok, so if you use two sticks that aren't of the same memory kit, this will give you problems as well.
The serial numbers may give you an indication on matching up the two memory kits.

thank you. i wasnt aware of that. now i understand what you mean

ok so i checked serial numbers and you were right. i had them out of order. i have similar serial numbers in slot 2 and 4 like you suggested. i held the cmos reset and powered up the machine. no change. i swapped memory to the other 2 sticks and same result. no change

so after i typed the last message i decided to unplug the 2 display port cables from the gpu and install an hdmi cable to the monitor and the motherboard graphics port. i ran the game and no stuttering.
bad gpu? it was brand new

Oh I see, you have a displayport cable for your gpu and a displayport cable for the cpu graphics.
Use only one display port cable connected to your gpu, don't connect a monitor cable to the motherboard.
How does this go?
