Hi everyone, I have built my pc back in 2022. I7 12700k, 3080, 32 gb DDR5. My mb is “ASUS TUF z690 plus Wi-Fi” (DDR5, not DDR4). I was thinking to update my bios. Current version is 1601 (old af), but idk what to do I read some people had a lot of trouble with last bios versions with 12gen cpus.
And an important question is: what do I do? I go straight for last update or should I go for a “mid update”, because old bios needs to upgrade intel me, last bios will do that simultaneously.. Thanks.

You can go directly to the latest update and flash it.
However, if you have made various settings in the UEFI (XMP or manual overclocking), you should note them down somewhere and, after updating to the latest version, reset the UEFI (if it doesn't do it automatically) and reset the settings you previously made.
Most of the problems users have with current updates are due to previously configured overclocking settings, which usually no longer work properly with more recent UEFIs due to various adjustments, etc., and they then have to search for and configure everything again.

@Ragnarem Can I ask what's made you want to update? If not experiencing any difficulties or compatibility issues, it's not always compulsory.

I don't believe it is necessary, no. If it is, you can use EZ-Flash and use the iGPU for connectivity if you no longer have your old GPU.
