Need help getting a system that boots into an OS!

I have a Crucial MX500 M.2 2280 250GB SATA III 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT250MX500SSD4 installed in the M2 slot under the heat shield. This contains my operating system. I also have a ASUS ROG Crosshair VII Hero (Wi-Fi) AMD Ryzen 2 AM4 DDR4 M.2 USB 3.1 Gen2 ATX X470 Motherboard .

Upon bootup it does not recognize the Crucial M.2 card and I'm left with nothing to bootup. I also tried booting up from the USB stick that has the Windows install software: turned off fastboot and turned on legacy. I could see the stick (I think) but all I get is a message to provide a bootable media. (It booted on my old motherboard)

So I need major help here. I believe the motherboard (being new) is up around version 881.

I'm in desperate need for help because I have not been able to see anything of my new system except to see the BIOS. So I guess the most important question is how to get the motherboard to recognize the M.2 card? Do I need to move it away from that position and into the second slot?

Also -- once I finally do get booted up can I control the motherboard RGB so it only displays purple?

I moved the M.2 from the top slot to the bottom slot. The m.2 is now visible but no matter what I do to get it in the boot order I still get the message I need a boot device. I KNOW that the M.2 has been made a boot device.

Mine does that too for 1 to 3 tries, then boots to the OS. I think I need a BIOS update but have been too lazy. Have you tried resetting a few times in a row to check success after a few times?
