Hi guys. It was a long time since I login, Actually its almost 2 years and I lost my loging account almost 1 year back.
I was a white guru or something then.
anyway I need you guys to help me this time too. I need to build a new gaming PC as my old one is getting slow.
My old setup was- maximus 5 extreme with i7- 3970k, 2X GTX 680 SLI with 32Gb 2400hz RAM, All water cooled.
Its was 3 years back and serve me well until now.
This time I wish to go for another killing machine. I need a little help as I`m gating outdated my self.
This time I wish to go Rampage v extreme/u3.1 or MSI X99S GAMING 9. CPU i7 5930K or i7 5960X. GPU 2X GTX 980 Ti on SLI or
2X Radeon R9 295X2 on crossfire. g skill ddr4 3000mhz 32Gb. This what I thought of. I have 1500W power ,other SSDs, HHDs,
that I can salvage from the old rig. What you guys think or your advice. Do I go for this or is there something better.

Thanks guys again. I wish to go on a x99 board this time. with 6 core CPU, means R5E. Now the hard choice - 2X GTX 980 ti or one titan X?
My be in the future I can add one more Titan x and make it SLI.
Need to choose i7-5930K, 5960X or 4960X.
Mainly I use this PC for gaming. 5930k is almost the half price of 5960X, Is it worthy to pay double for 2 more cores?

The Titan would be enough to drive Three monitors at, xxxx X xxxx resolution.
Possibly three 27" ROG G-Sync WHQD monitors.
4K might be a lot to ask for!
Also refresh rates at less than 120 Hz may not be ideal.
One can always lower resolution spec.
A more powerful GeForce card is a year away.
Windows 10 is here with DX 12 now.
The difference between i7-5960K and i7-5930K is 16 vs 12 Threads.
The i7-5960K runs at a slower spec, 3.0 GHz.
More cores more heat.
Also multiple GPU cost more to cool.
A single GTX 980 ti supports DX 12.

I think I would start out with just one 4k monitor. The 980ti is only about 4% slower than the titan x and is 350 dollars cheaper, unless you have to have 12GB of vram then go with the 980ti's and you will need at least 2 of them for decent frame rates on a 4k monitor. Two 980ti's would blow away a single titan x.

The 5930k is a good choice, it has 40 pcie lanes and its base clock is 500MHz faster than the 5960x. But yes the 5960x has 2 more cores and 5MB more of L3 cache.

The 5960x is the top dog right now and you have to decide if its worth it to you. 🙂

About 4k monitors, I know that 4K monitors are 60hz. Have you guys try playing FPS games with 4k ? Is it any good for gaming other than the quality of the images./

You could also consider 2x Radeon Fury X in Crossfire with a Samsung 28" 4K LED FreeSync U28E590D monitor.

Anyways, I see you might go with 2x 980 Ti. I just though I would give some input and some ideas 🙂

The higher the resolution the sharper, crisper and clearer the image looks and 4k is the highest ( 3840 x 2160 ) except for the dell 27" 5k monitor. Of course you can use the DSR factors in NVidia control panel to go even higher but it's not quite the same as it has to down sample the image.

I just helped one of our ROG members build a new pc and this is the monitor I recommended.

Our ROG friend's build.

Thanks Natel and Nahrga for the tips. Its cool your friends rig, Look nice and clean. I use EK water blocks and staff too.
I wish they made closed loop water cooling system for GPUs. Just like corsair h100i, what I am using now and its damn awesome.
I don't have much time these days to change the coolant every once in awhile as I have to work hard. EK coolant change the color so quick in a week or so.
Is Z170 is good for gaming? Do I have to wait a wile for the Mobo or new build. What is the difference between X99 and Z170A mobos.
Thanks in advance..

I recommend you the following.

1- Rampage v extreme/u3.1 ( I had the MSI and the UEFI is a bit wack)
2- i7 5930K (Just because you have SLI) I don't think the 5960X worth the extra 500 USD for two extra cores.
3- GTX980 Ti is a VERY solid and powerful card by itself, I will pick an SLI of 980 Ti over a Titan X; The 980Ti and the Titan X have about the same processing power but the 980 Ti is cheaper. I recommend you to go read some reviews.
4- Samsung SM951 512GB MZHPV512HDGL-00000 M.2 80mm PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD (Best SSD I have tested so far)
5- G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 I have tested this kit: F4-3000C15Q-16GRR they are cheap, they are OC friendly and stable with XMP profile on Firmware 1502
6- PSU if you have the cash AX1200i or you can get away with AX860 for almost half the price.

I hope this helps.
