Even Ivy bridge outperformed the X79 platform. So short answer is yes Haswell does.

What you would use your new system for?

The the Rampage IV Extreme is for overclocking, for everyday use it's an overkill... also, the LGA2011 CPUs are usually expensive...

get one of the new maximus 6 series motherboard. ( LGA1150 )
gaming and a lill OC-> geene to hero
for hardcore OC -> extreeme

thanks guys for the advice....

after a long time i am going to build a gaming pc....which would last for a good amount of time (5 years),as i dont want to spend again and again on upgrades.....(except graphics cards)..

i think maximus 6 extreme is a good choice.....but is the ultimate?

For gaming you want the Hero or the Formula not the Extreme

The sound is not geared for gamers on the Extreme, that board is for the extreme bencher and LN2 user. 🙂

Should be out sooner than that I am hoping. Right now the Hero is a very nice option I must say.

I will wait as well because after 3 rigs, i am looking to have one of those new Haswell and turn one of my current to have Win XP and Linux and/or Hakintosh, i don't want to have multi OS on my new computers, and maybe i will use Win 8 or newer OS coming on that new Haswell rig if i bought.
