Memtest86 how to interpret

I am having a hell of a time with testing some memory... maybe I am misssing something so I am posting here.

I have a working system with working memory which I use regularly. We bought some 2x16 Corsair DDR5 6400MT C32 Kit for my son and I am testing it in my rig using memtest86 11.1 pro and memtest86 10.0 free which is build into the BIOS version 4101, the latest version for this board. Initially when trying to add the ram I had all sorts of troubles as I did not realise that XMP modules are only supported in A2/B2 slots on this motherboard. Thats now been resolved.

When I run the test the errors show up in the ram on slot B2. Plenty of them...

So decided to swap their slots with each other and run it again expecting the errors to all appear on A2 this time.
However again they are all appearing on slot B2 and I am wondering am I interpresting these results correctly?

Does testing on a pair of memory sticks only show the errors against the second stick because it treats them as one ? How is memtest86 doing these tests. I thought it would be on the individual sticks of SDRAM?
