Maximus XI Extreme PCIEX 1 not detecting GPU

Hi everyone

This issue is driving me insane, so hopefully there is a guru here.

System;
Maximus XI Extremme
I9 9900k
Strix 2080 ti

I have been running with a 1080 ti (in PCIEX 2), which has been removed to make way for the 2080 ti which is the only new component.

New GPU will not be recognized in PCIEX 1.

Things I have tried...
CMOS reset - no change
Refit GPU card - no change
Reinstall drivers - no change
MB Bios is up to date
Moved GPU card to PCIEX 2 - works, no problems - all good.

Am I missing a setting here, or is my PCIEX 1 slot faulty?

I can run on PCIEX 2, and I know it will be fine - however I'd prefer to run it in PCIEX to maximize the speed.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Just a quick update.
I have been running the GPU in slot two now last night for around 5 hours full load and overclocked no problems.

This morning I turn the PC, and nothing - card isn't working again.

I removed and refit the 2x8 pin power cables and refit them only.

Now its working again....

Does the UEFI firmware see it? BTW, there is a new BIOS/UEFI update that came out yesterday.

How would I check to see is UEFI see's it?
When I look in the BIOS if the card is undetected it does not show.

Thanks for the tip about the new update, I will update to see if that helps at all.

I've been on the PC all day, around 14 hours - no problems at all.

So I'm still having issues with this.

It was running for a week and a half on slot 2 with no issues.

Then today mid game, black screen.
I can hear the PC is still running because sound is coming from the speakers which are game sounds.

GPU no longer detected in slot 2.

I disconnect everything from the IO, remove the case for its corner - open and unplug and re plug the power cables only on the GPU.
Refit everything and it works.

I've tried to just power off at the wall and that hasn't solved it. It has something to do with removing power off the GPU.

It's incredibly frustrating that I seem to have these quality issues with Asus products all the time. I don't know what to do next.
