Looking to upgrade system, having a few questions

Hey all,

I'm looking to upgrade my current system by the end of spring. My current 'wanted' list is the following:

    CPU: Intel 3930-K

    MB: Asus RIVE

    Memory: Corsair XMS 3 32GB

PSU: CoolerMaster Silent Pro M 1000W

    CPU Cooling: Corsair H80

I would keep my Intel SSD, OCZ SSD and 2 Samsung SPinpoint drives from my current system. I'm pretty sure about that list although any remarks or critique are welcome.

Here's where it breaks my nuts:

I have an Asus GTX570 dcii running in my current system which I would also like to transfer to my upgrade.

Originally I wanted to buy an extra Asus GTX570dcii and go SLI. This would be my first SLI system and I'm wondering if games are still having SLI problems?

Option 2: Sell the GTX570 and go for a GTX590?

Option 3: Wait for the Kepler gpu's and see what that brings?

Also my current case is the CoolerMaster Storm Enforcer. I love this case but I'm afraid it might not deliver enough decent airflow with my upgrade. This case comes standard with a 200mm fan in front and a 120mm fan in the back. I've added an extra 200mm fan up top. Both the 200mm fans are intake, the 120mm in the back blows all the air outside the case. Should I consider upgrading case too?

Thanks in advance, I'm loving this forum 🙂

The only thing as far as the case goes, will it hold a EATX mobo? That should provide enough air since your cooling the cpu w/ water. its a good setup. I dont know about the ram, 32gb seems overkill. If its just a gaming rig 8gb is more than enough. I wouldn't add another 570, i have a 580 and havent seen a game that gives it a challenge. I'd wait till kepler and see if 500 series prices go down. But if this is a gaming rig you might wait till Ivy bridge comes out. I know it important to have a $1500 but I've had a $600 and a $3500 and gaming wise didnt see hardly any difference. Its your choice but keep in mind the price to performance ratio. just my 2cents.

You got a point there. I can't believe I overlooked the fact that it's a EATX mobo. The amount of ram is because I work at a computer store and I can buy ram at a pretty cheap price from one of our suppliers, so I thought I should benefit from that while it still can. I think I might just stick with my single 570 for now and see what Kepler has to offer.

I've built many systems for customers at any price for any usage and indeed it sure is doable to have a $600-800 setup that can handle games very well, but I like that little step further. Or that big step further haha

Thanks for the reply.
