Hello first time poster and just reg,, but been around the board for a few weeks..

Right now kinda of in a confused spot, as this rig will be my first truly build.
Mostly use my rig for Gaming and watching movies -DVD/online.

So far this is the parts i have pick..

Case--Cm HAF Advance 932
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160

MoBo-- Asus Maximus V Gene z77 (i know its a small board)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131830

CPU-- i5 2500k

GPU-- Msi Hawk Geforce 650Ti (fermi) 1g
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127578

PSU-- XFX Core Edition PRO-850w
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207011

Memory-- Gskill- Sniper Low Voltage Series (1600)-8g(2x4
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231461

HDD-- ??

Op Drive- multi one i can use from this computer i am using now..

all this put me around $900usd, minus the hhd/water cooling kit.. trying to stay under $1200usd

what I am confused about is,

1.I do plan to overclock my CPU to 4.5g should i get a
aftermarket heat sink or water cooling kit ?

2. I want to overclock my GPU also, i know it comes factory oc at (core-950Mhz//Shader-1900Mhz)
and i read reviews that it can be overclock to around core-1050mhz/shader-2000Mhz/mem-1100mhz.
Would it be safe to oc with the factory heat sinks or get a water block for it, or just leave it at 950Mgz factory specs?

3.My memory is on the MoBo QVL but its only 8g (2x4) if i wanted to add another same memory 8g (2x4) for 16g
would it be ok?

4. Would PSU 850w be enuff to run every thing even with a water cooling kit?

1) Yes, you can overclock some with the stock HSF but it's not going to be as good as even some of the cheapest aftermarket solutions. You can take the same chip farther with a better cooler.

2) You might be able to OC with the factory cooling. It depends on whether you get a good card or not. All cards are not equal but they are sold at the same speed. This means that some have more headroom than others. Also, by the time you pay for a block & other water cooling parts you will generally spend more than the cost of a faster factory part. Custom water cooling is fun and effective but generally not cost efficient from a dollars per FPS standpoint.

3) Possibly. Sometimes there is a lower amount on the QVL because that was all that was tested and sometimes more was tested but with questionable stability. The QVL just means "known good". If all you want to do is game then 8GB will be fine anyway.

4) For a single card system? 850 is plenty. I would advise you to go with a reliable brand (Corsair is my fav) and read reviews on the individual model you are considering. Even generally good brands have stinkers sometimes so this is still important.

I think, the mobo and CPU are very good choices... 8GB memory is enough for gaming, but if you want more - I would get a bigger kit instead of mixing two smaller ones...

As for the CPU cooler, I would go with a water cooling kit.. like the Corsair H100...

Would not use a waterblock for the VGA, as it will bring you over the proposed financial limit - just be sure that in your case is good airflow...

Thanks for the help guys, really help alot.:D
