It has been reported that the new Kaby Lake 7700K CPU's can overclock to 5.0 on 1.35 volts

Without giving to much information my retail sample 7700K can run RealBench 2.44 at 5.0 at 1.35 volts easy, can validate @ 5.1 1.35 volts, locks up at 5.2
Not sure if I have a good chip or not but pretty excited to play with this new chip
Haven't delidded it yet like all my Skylake CPU's are and the temps it hit running RealBench @ 5.0 with a Corsair h115i I may not, mid 70"s on open bench table
Supposedly the IMC has been improved and runs memory at high speeds, I will be checking this out soon, this is on a an ASUS Z-170 board

Hey Menthol !

Whoa, that is an awesome overclock with the H115i.

You got me all worked up now, I hope I get a 7700k as good as yours or better because my 6700k was disappointing, I can't afford to bin cpu's so I have to take what I can get. I can't even win a free ticket on scratch off lottery ticket so why should I expect anything different with the silicon lottery. 😄

All I can do is cross my fingers, you definitely have me excited about the 7700k.

Installed a kit of Gskill 4x8 32MB 3600mhz 16-16-16 this morning, set them at 3866mhz 1.4 volts, re installed XTU on updated Win 10 no OS tweaks
5.2 GHZ to run XTU and Realbench stable took 1.45 volts still using Corsair h115i AIO
XTU score 1744

I have a new 4266mhz memory kit and a another CPU coming, really want to install them on an APEX and get into a little more serious benching

We are part of a dying breed bro! Members of the I do it because I can club! No rhyme or reason or even purpose. Just hardware junkies playing with adult legos. The only practical purpose I have is photo editing in batch files supporting my other expensive hobby turned semi pro, photography. Pro camera bodies will eat an entire extreme PC budget for one item. Lenses put that to shame. The only reason I get away with it is I do youth sports and senior portrait packages in a region overflowing with people who have more $$ than sense. They think nothing of dropping $5k on a senior portrait package or $2K for a package of their kid playing soccer including life size posters! So that habit actually finances itself and leaves fun money to spend on PCs and family vacations.*

That is amazing !

The 7700k seems to hold all the hype it's receiving and for good reason. 🙂

Is your 4266MHz kit 8GB or 16GB ?

It's the one of new Gskill KabyLake kits 8GB modules so 16GB as I'm hoping to get an Apex witch only has 2 dimm slots

Man you're going to have one of the fastest machines around Menthol, I'm looking forward to your results as always.

Of course you always seem to have the fastest machine as you're usually at the top of the ROG Realbench leaderboard. 🙂

What do you get when you run the cache out of stock? That's what I really want to see. Core and cache. Whats your max temps and cooling solution?
Mine will be here tomorrow. Interesting weekend ahead. Having a full cover block and hard tubing makes for a PITA to decide which to use. I bought two and hopefully one of them will be worthy. If one is it will get delidded. Dug up enough flexible tubing and fittings out of my basement along with a spare resevoir, 360 rad and a pump so I can test to see If either is worth keeping before I go through putting it back in my case. It has to beat out my 6700k with the lid on first. Otherwise its not worth keeping. If I can hit 5.1 under 1.4Vcore with the lid on that should get me to 5.2 or better with it off.

Around 1.35 is about max before delid. I can 26.6 1344k 5.2/4.8@1.36 on hero 8. Should be a 5.3 chip on Apex.
