It has been reported that the new Kaby Lake 7700K CPU's can overclock to 5.0 on 1.35 volts
Without giving to much information my retail sample 7700K can run RealBench 2.44 at 5.0 at 1.35 volts easy, can validate @ 5.1 1.35 volts, locks up at 5.2
Not sure if I have a good chip or not but pretty excited to play with this new chip
Haven't delidded it yet like all my Skylake CPU's are and the temps it hit running RealBench @ 5.0 with a Corsair h115i I may not, mid 70"s on open bench table
Supposedly the IMC has been improved and runs memory at high speeds, I will be checking this out soon, this is on a an ASUS Z-170 board

I may give one of these a try soon when they are more readily available, hate paying a scalpers price.
What it means to me would be lower Vcore to get to 5GHz. I dont have heat issues now with my custom loop. I did have horrendous heat issue with the first solution I tried, the corsair h115i. Went from spiking to 90C at 4.9 GHz and 1.440 Vcore to passing 5 Ghz at 1.495 Vcore with max temp of 60 since the Delid and going to a custom loop. It also took a lot of tweaking to pass the 5Ghz mark and it was on a 48 multi with a higher BCLCK a little past 104.

samual I haven't seen anything on a Z-270 Extreme board, my guess is it will be like Z-97 and Formula will be top board this GEN
