How's it going everyone? My birthday (turning 21) is this Friday and I've been lookin at building a decent gaming rig that will actually let me play the newer games with decent settings. I'm currently running off a HP Pavilion Dv7 series, which actually does pretty nice, considering it will play Batman: Arkham City.

Here's what I'm lookin at
Case: NZXT Crafted Series Phantom Black/Green ATX
MoBo: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO or LK
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB PCIe 2.0
Memory: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB)
PSU: CORSAIR enthusiast series CMPSU-650TX 650W
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500gb
Fans: 2x XIGMATEK LED Fan Crystal series CLF-F2005 200mm

From what I've heard from my more builder savvy friends, this should work wonders.
The build will cost me 946.96 off of Newegg

You have got it pretty much spot on my friend.

Only suggestion I would make is if you can stretch your budget is to get a SSD for your OS and applications. But besides that you have a very good system right there.

Newegg has the seagate 500GB XT hybrid drive on sale today if an SSD is out of your budget. Not SSD speeds but it is at a very good price today.

That's awesome to hear.

I have a 1.5 TB USB 3.0 external drive that I've been using for all my storage needs and have it shared on the network... Since I have that, should I just exnay the 500Gb drive all together and get the SSD or the Hybrid?

I see CORSAIR has a 120GB SSD for 120, the Hybrid Menthol mentioned going for nice 90

Get SSD . Get another hard drive for data and you are way to go.
Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.

SSD over the hybrid if you can.
