W7 suports up to 16gig of ram, so if you want to expand laters you have to get a new w7 version ( just so you know it )
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa366778%28v=vs.85%29.aspx#physical_memory_l...
IF you want to you could get a I5-3750k ( they say you get more bang for the bucks whit this ) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504 and use the rest on a ssd ( for OS ) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227706 if your interested.
ssd compare to hdd = huge difrence in speed and boot up.
use the ssd for os and hdd for storage, and save all files on the hdd, and later you can get another ssd for puting games on it to load them faster.
and try not to over fill the ssd whit programs, save the largest programs on the hdd and try and keep it as clean as posible ( the ssd )
thats my sugestion 🙂

Don't forget something to cool it!;) If at all possible I'd try and budget an SSD in there.....big increase in performance.

the h100 would look good in that case

I am aware of the ssd speed and I just don't have the budget to include one or I would. And for now I'm going with the stock cpu cooler to save some cash. This is all that I am asking for for christmas so that is why I'm trying not to break my reletives bank. 🙂
I don't think I will need much more RAM considering for now, I'm doing fine with an ASUS K52n laptop with AMD raedon 4200 at 500MHz. It also has a AMD turon II at 2.4GHz. It has 6gb of ram too. (thats what I should've put where vid. card specs are. Oh well)

take the price of the 3770 and look at the 2 links i gave you, would be just a few $ difrence.

Well I'm not sure if that 120GB ssd is enough for my OS... Otherwise that sounds really good.

I have a couple of questions, and then some general recommendations.

Q1: What are you going to be using your PC for? Gaming? Video editing? AutoCad?

Q2: Are you planning to do any overclocking in the future?

You can save a lot of money by going with a cheaper case. You don't need either that size or trim level to adequately mount and use a Formula board. For example, the Cooler Master HAF 912 is only $60, and it will handle a Formula board.

If you're primarily interested in gaming (mobo & GPU suggest that), there is a big price premium for going with a i7-3770K versus an i5-2500K or i5-3570K, with very little performance increase, so I would recommend getting one of the cheaper processor.

If you're interested in overclocking, you really need an aftermarket cooler. Consider buying a cheap Cooler Master Hyper 212+ EVO for $30, and you can always upgrade later, if you need additional horsepower.

Get DDR3 1600 RAM instead of DDR3 1333. There is little benefit from going for a higher speed than 1600, but there is a noticeable difference between 1333 and 1600.

I would STRONGLY recommend NEVER buying a Hard Disc Drive with a 1-year warranty. If you have limited funds, always go with a smaller drive and a longer warranty (e.g., Western Digital WD Black has a 5-year warranty).

You can get a better power supply for almost the same price by going with the Seasonic Platinum 860. Check out the online reviews, and I think you will be impressed. (Seasonic actually manufactures Corsair's PSUs, in case you didn't know.)

Buy the OEM version of Win7 64-bit if you're confident that you're going to keep that mobo for a while. It is cheaper -- $90-$100 -- and it's only locked to the mobo, so you can easily upgrade all of your other components without having to install a new OS. If you don't plan to use >16GB of RAM or process backups to another location (e.g., home server), then you don't need Win7 Pro.

Money saved from going with a cheaper case, CPU, and OEM Win7 can be used to buy an aftermarket cooler and SSD for your system drive, which are probably the two biggest performance boosts that you can add to your new system.

Hope this helps.

In the farther future I am planning on overclocking, but not soon. I am using this for gaming as it's main purpose. The SSD does sound like a good idea, and I don't think I'll ever fill up 3TB. I'm going to go with the i5 instead of the i7, but I like to have a case that looks cool (just a personal prefrence). I'm going to have to do a little more research, but thats ok. By the way, what is an OEM version of win. 7? Right now I'm looking at some 240-256GB SSDs. Any suggestions on the actual drives?
