Hello
I'd like to build my PC this way: any advice?Hi, I'd like to build a new PC for video editing, but not only. I already have these components:
VIDEO CARD: PNY GEFORCE RTX™ 5070 12GB Triple Fan DLSS 4 Graphics Card
CASE: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Tempered Glass Full Tower
COOLING SYSTEM: Corsair H150i 360mm cooler POWER SUPPLY: Corsair CP-9020093-EU RMx Series
CPU: Intel® Core™ i9-14900Kand
POWER SUPPLY: ATX/EPS 850 Watt
MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS Elite AX (LGA 1700/ Intel Z790/ ATX/ DDR5/ Quad M.2/ PCIe 5.0/ USB 3.2 Gen2X2 Type-C/ Intel WiFi 6E/ 2.5GbE LAN/ Q-Flash Plus/PCIe EZ-LatchI' ..... or Asus.
l buy new 32GB RAM
I have no experience and don't want to go into details about the cost. Do you think I can install the new CPU and motherboard without changing anything else?
Many thanks.

rule of thumb:: DO NOT mix ram kits even that the same. get a kit that has 4 out of the box. this apply on ANY motherboard. to check the best ram for you board check the QVL list. and start there. TAKE NOTE: on 600chipset boards ON ALL, ram above 6400mhz is very unstable. you can work it out... good luck on that. For intel ultra kits are called intel boot or there is CUDIM. there cudim ram that is intel boost and even some time ago where expensive now is to much. FOR work kits and CUDIM more than intel boost. on amd check the list since even that new bios wake some of it. there are still limitation. on am5 keep on recommended specs am5 push that is 6000mhz on low CL EXPO RAM. do not over complicate on that.
on both amd and intel DO NOT MIX ram kits even that are the same. !!!!!!

Aside that is a asus forums . I will ask some question
1. you buy those components.
2. the z790 you have the top cpu available in the market. there is no more above that anything else you need to check the board.
3. the question is you can use the same gear. YES! you can. now, not all ram works the same. will post. but depending on the ram works better on intel or amd OR BOTH. some current rams are both xmp and EXPO.
4. BUT if you want to go on more on gpu you will need to use another psu. Example i use 1050w on my 4090 and is ok. but on 5090 you need to push that. i will not enter on the future on the gpus since there is no info. and if you add the "super: is just 100mhz.(i say to much)
5. any other cpu like for exmaple a 9800x3d you are fine with that aio. the 14900k IS A VERY HOT CPU! the ultra 7 is very cold. the ultra 9 use less power but get hot much much less. for the current notes you are ok with the current psu. remember to plug correct the power.
6. IF YOU MOVE from intel to amd YOU HAVE to make a clean install of windows. if you move to ultra cpus from intel and z890 isg. you need to 3 more drivers the main ones are the same as the current one you own
cheers

Thank you so much for your advice. I have a few last questions please. I use Edius 11 for video editing, and it only uses the CPU for video editing, but it also uses the GPU for exporting from the timeline. So I'd like to ask you:
1) Is it better to buy an Ultra 7 or an Ultra 9?
2) So I'll buy a Z790 CPU. OK. But I'm not sure if I should buy an ASUS TUF Z790 or an MSI Z790. I repeat: I have a good graphics card NY GEFORCE RTX™ 5070. Is everything compatible with these components? THANK YOU again.

most apps that do video edition is base on cpu until is the final render is done. same works on davinci.i will not talk on the other one.
gpu will work fine, and mostly IS time. the better the gpu is the faster will do it. that is all.
i witll not touching hard feelings on cpus. for productivity the best is intel ultras. unless invest on amd high models and for now i will not go there since ..... (ups! i talk to much) Base on the question any will do. is just 2 cores deference. there will be a ultra 7 plus (soon) that they add 2 cores wilth.... (ups!!!!!!!!!!! again) you can keep as it is and deal with heat, YES!!!!!!!!!!! and ultra 7 will be fine. remember is not better or worst is about time!.
On Intel ultra cpu and a good z890 board (any board will do and if you use a lot of disk (nvmes) investigate first before buying. most basic or entry board is limited) on work load high timings ram is better like 8000mhz cl30 and 64 gb MINIMUM! so chose your ram wisely and yes sadly is a bad timing. i get 96gb (kit of 2 sticks) for 300usd back in march now is unteachable. But is you live on that income, that is your work computer. i hope you get my words. if you select in the end amd STAY IN AMD RECOMENDATIONS! the 9900 9950 are monsters, but they are expensive. and you will get there if needed. those 2 can kick the TR back easy but price hard for most starters. the ultras will do fine. science has prove it already.
one thing i can give as tip is use one ssd (normal is fine) or a nvme JUST for the scratch disk so all is done there load the videos there and as you push forward is loaded on main drive and once all is done store on mechanical drive the final. that will preserve the main nvme since this types of work load will kill disk fast so a scratch disk is the best you can add to your system. Do not partition the main to do so.
i hope this helps. sorry for my long words, English is not my main, but this types of workloads is what i do best and pay the bills
the asus z890 creator is a good board for it cause the TB ports and access to nvmes ports. a good foundation. has apps that adjust base on the work needed. you can get a hero (good prices now in fact so good that a 390usd or less. just dig it and i mean new!

I can't thank you enough for your invaluable advice. But allow me a few last questions:
1) Why buy such an expensive motherboard when an MSI PRO Z890-P WIFI ATX LGA1851 does a great job with my hardware?
2) You're telling me that an AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D 4.4/5.5GHz Box is a monster of power, but if I understand correctly, I'm seeing that the Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 has a CPU speed of 5.4 GHz, while the AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D has a CPU speed of 4.4 GHz. Thanks again.

I forgot:
All CPUs have integrated graphics. Is it better to disable it or leave it enabled? I remember you I already have a good graphics card.

no. keep it on. On intel ultra it has a NPU driver that activate the AI functionality. keep it on even that is not in use. On am5 you can keep on also even that is not in use, i have to check on new cpus but am5 igpu is good for TB. is very handy. you can if you like on BOTH, use a 3 monitor and will not f it up the gpu . if you have diferent hz panels.

Yes, I have a good Graphic Card but there's a debate about whether to leave the integrated graphics card active or disabled because it's supposed to communicate and integrate the power.
However, I have another question, hahaha. Some techies tell me to use two sticks of RAM and another four sticks of RAM because four are important in video editing, but two are important in gaming.
EDIT: you wrote to buy 8000mhz cl30 RAM. Could you tell me what brand and what precise model please?
