how much gain from upgrading now?

Hi, is there any point at upgrading now or should I wait? (specs in my signature) Was thinking of getting a RoG motherboard and as I understand, I can use my i5 2500k for the z77 MBs as well? Then I could just get a new cpu at a later date.

Nope - as far as I can see no real world gains at all. Unless there is a feature or benefit that a new motherboard would bring you right now that is not available with your current system stay where you are.

However ASUS would like you to upgrade your system very much. A ROG boarddoes really look good and is cutting edge chipset technology. 😄

Hehe, true enough 😛

Im sad that I got the Asus p8z68-v Pro MB as I were thinking of getting the z68 maximus board at first. Like I said in my other thread, I will be ordering the HD7970 MATRIX PLATINUM later today and a red/black MB would look so good in there with the rest of my system 😛

Sell your current board on the bay or on some classified forum. And just accept the hit.

They do look good.... 😛

or if its doable, you could hang on to the board and mabye make it to a file/backup server/system on a later date.
when upgrading/changing out parts.

good idea, you can still find Windows Home Server 2011 at $ 49, this is the best for back up and recover a PC
