Help with SSD

I just put together a new system. Asus Maximus V Formula with i7 3770k overclocked to 3.9ghz with XFX 7950, a Samsung 840 256gb SSD and a WD 1Tb HDD. I want to install windows on SSD and use HDD for storage. The bios does not recognize the SSD just the HDD.

How do I go about getting windows on SSD?

Make sure firmware for SSD is updated. And for installation, try to un-plug the HDD. Make sure it´s not plugged into the Asmedia ports.

make sure you install the ssd on the first two black ports or the second set of red ports these are the Intel ports blacks are 3 gig and reds are the 6 gig a sec ports.

what drives are you using? maybe there is a firmware update

My Samsung 840 SSD is still not recognized by BIOS or Windows 7. Could it be damaged?

Cannot update firmware because the drive is not recognized!

You should try to connect it to another pc, perhaps you have a friend who´ll help you out?

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6483/update-on-samsung-ssd-840840-pro-failures describes bugfix in a firmware revision 3B0Q/6B0Q. If it´s recognized in another pc, look for the fw revision in the hard ware manager.

...it describes problems: The regular 840 actually died when I tried to secure erase it.... it was no longer detected by the system after reconnecting it. Never the less, they have much faith in the product, since their troubles were on early models.

Did you do a secure erase on it?

Ok I finally got it recognized in the Bios but its still not showing up in Windows.

Got it to show up now but cannot load windows onto it. Booting from WD 1TB HDD.
