i would recomend you to get the same model and brand as you have from before.

My understanding is they have to be exactly the same for it to work. I think you at least have to have them at the same clocks.

Well, if you want to go SLI way, then you better have very similar if not identical cards... at least the GPU and memory should be the same... - in your case the Matrix Platinum has a higher core clock... not sure that will match the DCII one...

Just would like to point out... are you aware that both of these cards are huge (they occupy 3xPCIe lanes each)? I mean, you know the DC II... will they fit on your mobo?

Put the "slowest" card in the primary PCI-E, the faster card will automaticly downclock to match and run SLi

yeah with SLI they dont have to be the same card but the chip has to be the same family. for instance
a 8800GT will run with a 9800GTS becouse they are the same chip family and same with the 9800 chip up to to the GTS 250
after the GTS250 chip then Nvidia made alot of changes to their chips and were always changing so just do some reading and make sure you get 2 cards that will run with each other or 3 if you have the room in your case also the memory on the card I have herd that does not need to be axact but i never tried to run 2 with different memory sizes so I would steer away from that

good luck

As for I am concern about SLI/xfire. Best to go fot same card with same spec.
