Go with the 980's, they are slightly faster than the 780Ti's. If it were me, I would opt for a better PSU. 1000-1200W Corsair, Seasonic or EVGA unit for SLI.

I'd go for the GTX 980 definately. Apart from being faster, they are newer tech. Have you seen the new GTX 980 ROG Matrix Platinum? I'm sure you'd like it.
As for the PSU, you'll need to list your complete system specifications for me so I can take a look at the power draw.
Depending on when you're making the purchase, you may want to wait until the end of this month or mid January for the R9 300 series of cards.
But you wouldn't be disappointed. As far as PSU purchases go, always buy only EVGA G2, P2 or SeaSonic gold or platinum PSUs. A good threshold for power is 1 2/3-2 times the amount of power your system passively draws.

I dont plan to buy before feb 2015 anyway, so I heard there will be a gtx 980ti ???
Wouldnt it be better to wait for it, it seems to be quite powerful.
Cuz atm, Games like Far Cry 4 are dropping in FPS alot if it runs on max mode
my personal opinion is to just get another 780 after the holidays as they will be a lot cheaper as the 900's flood the market; Then refreash in early 2016 when the 1000 series comes out with the die shrink. The die shrink will be huge for GPU's in terms of performance and power usage. That way you will not need a new PSU. A 850w is plenty for 2 cards in SLI; Just my 2 cents;
2x980 would be better than 2x780 and they are more efficient also in terms of power usage. Infact, 2x970 would be better as well.
In terms of the PSU, as long as your 850w is healthy and a decent brand the TDP shouldn't have dropped so it will be enough for max load, but the lifespan of it may decrease quicker due to all of it being utilised more often.
Waiting till Feb 2015 will allow for the prices to drop a little bit also so I think your onto a winner to wait. 🙂
In January 2015, the R9 300 series should be released. If leaks are correct, the cards will feature HBM VRAM, and the R9 380x will cost the same as the GTX 970 while outperforming it entirely. Again, it is just leaks. But at that point you'll have a much greater variety of cards to choose from.
