Fans

Hey Guys,

I am looking for some fans to up the cooling in my system and would like some advice. I am from Australia and the price doesn't matter. My case is an Aerocool X Predator and what I am looking to put in is 6 140mm fans, I am not concerned about how loud or quiet they are I just want good airflow. I am currently looking at the Bitfenix Spectre Pros however they currently don't have any out with Green LEDs which I would like 4 of to go on the clear window on the side of the case. If anyone has any suggestions of other fans to look at by all means post them up and lI'll take a look.

Kind Regards, Silver Wolf

I might look at using These 140mm corsair fans for your side panel as they excel in pulling air through with no restrictions like 0on side panels, and then These 120mm corsair fans for your drive bays as they excel in restricted environments like pulling air through drive cages.

They might not glow green, but you can pick up some LED strips for cheap to give the same effect. They excel in moving air and staying fairly quiet so IMO i would take them over the others

So for side mounted fans I am better off with a higher airflow rather than a higher static pressure right? In which case the best option would be http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=36_316_848&products_id... however for best air pressure http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_1232&products_id=19135 takes it out so which stat is best or am I looking for a mix of the two or something else entirely?

You want a fan with high static pressure that has to move air through a radiator, hard drive trays, or a thick case panel. when threes no restrictions like on a side panel, or the back exhaust on a case, a fan that has higher airflow is better because it excels at pulling air from all around it.

You are better off going with a mix of fans as each excels depending where you place them in your case

Ok so for reference purposes my case is pictured here http://www.hardwarelook.com/images/uploads/REVIEWS/ENCLOSURES/Aero_Cool_XPredator/large/xpredator_si... now for the side panel I would want fans with the best airflow right?

Thank you for the explanation Karmageddon 🙂 I had pretty much figured as much but still trying to wrap my head around cooling lol my old case never had options to add extra fans so I am now trying to get my head around what I actually need but I think I pretty much have that worked out now just need to confirm the above.

Correct, for your side pannel you want fans with the best airflow as there is extreamly little to no restrictions for your fans. Keep in mind that your fans might be a bit loud, so you may want to pick up a fan controller for them if noise is an issue for you

Thanks for the heads up. My case has 2 fan controllers built in so I plan to make use of them for this 🙂
