error code 8 and pc restarting when using CPUID ROG validate or multitasking - help!

Getting an error code 8 when I do multiple thing or upon a fresh startup when I use CPUID-ROG validate. it resets the computer with an error code 8 and constant orange light on the Dram under the Q-code screen - I've ran memtest86 no issues...

My setup is the Asus CROSSHAIR VI hero, Ryzen 7 1800x, crosair HYDRO 110i cpu cooler, Corsair 16GB Vengeance LPX DDR4 2400MHz (in slots 2 and 4), my psu is the corsair GS 700, and bios is up to date with version 1201.

Anyone know the reason for this or how to fix it before I consider phoning up and sending parts back for testing?

You say your Bios is up-to-date with version 1201 - the latest version is actually 1401 🙂

Please try that version and reply here if you still get the issue 🙂

Here is a link where you can go and download BIOS 1401.

so the official ASUS support section says 1201 is the latest bios PLUS the EZ update detects that 1201 is the latest bios..... why are two official places saying 1201 is the latest yet you give me a link from a thread to use 1401 bios? feeling pretty skeptical right now.

1401 is the latest BIOS which may not have been updated to the website yet.

ASUS are releasing the newest BIOS' for the C6H here and on Overclockers so people can test it ASAP.
A lot of people are saying it's the best BIOS so far for the C6H.

I can assure you I am an ASUS employee, so there is no reason to be skeptical ^^'

well I'm only skeptical because it's not officially up yet and in my country (U.K.) we can void our warranty on products if we damage them via overclocking or messing with bios via unofficial sources. So with all respects until it's in black and white officially I'm going to have to wait.

It's been a while since I was a resident there, so sorry for not knowing about the different laws ^^'

Thank you for updating me on this 🙂

It's fine thank you for your suggestions though I'm not without gratefulness, and your welcome. I will take on your advice as soon as it's official. TBH i don't know whether its my bios or windows that's making the comp freeze as i admittedly am using a cracked windows... the iso is 100% clean as I used a family members DVD but the windows activator remains questionable.

ok so i took a deep breath and took the risk and updated to 1401 and although working slightly better i still get the error 8 code when i open too many things like world of warcraft, Vuze for my torrents firefox to watch anime when waiting round in wow and google chrome for just general browsing in between watching anime and waiting in wow haha then my comp freezes for about 5 mins before turning off display and displaying error code 8.... i really dont think a (working) 8 core 16 thread processor should have a problem with that sort of multitasking? i hope not it cost me around £500 (rounded off).

OK, so after looking around for you, I picked up on the fact that Error Code 8 stands for CPU failure.

Have you tried reseating the CPU, replacing thermal paste and all of those things first?

If that doesn't work, then I might say that your CPU is faulty. It doesn't sound as though your MOBO is faulty as it is booting and stuff, although I would replace the CPU first and then see what follows after that.
