Does the M5A99X EVO R2.0 support AMD Crossfire?

I'm a little unfamiliar with which boards support Crossfire but I happen to have come into possession of a few 480s with 8Gb of RAM and thought I would try them out on an older PC I have with the M5A99X EVO R2.0 Mobo. Do these cards still need the CrossFire connector or does the mobo do that automatically now?

If GPU have conector for SLI/Cross use it

Thanks I read the manual too and it shows that you need to use the Cross over cable.
