Dedicated PhysX GPU Needed?

Hello, I just finished assembling my new gaming rig. I haven't overclocked anything yet.

i7-4930k
Asus Rampage IV Extreme Black Edition
Corsair H100i
16GB GSkill Ripjaws Z @ 2133MHz (4x4)
2x EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 Classified
Seasonic X-1250W PSU
1TB Samsung EVO SSD
Panasonic 50" Plasma @ 1080p

I've installed a slew of games to give it a test spin and the first one was Batman: Arkahm City. I had the Nvidia GeForce Experience optimize it for me, I reviewed it's choices and they're almost the same as what I would choose. However, I still experienced some stuttering. The one graphics selection I think is causing the trouble is the "Hardware Accelerated PhysX". It stutters when on Normal or High, but not with the OFF selection. I ran the game's Benchmark option and my lowest score was 79 and my average was 128.

I have a GTX 580 from my old rig. So my questions are:

Is a dedicated PhysX GPU necessary?
Will it help with this game, what about others?
With 104a on the 12+ rail, I have enough power right?
Should I 3-way SLI it with the dual 780's?
If slotted, will the PC know to use the 780 in slot 1 as the primary GPU?

Any other ideas and thoughts are appreciated!

Hi Sirrus:)

Best thing in the end would be to test it if you have the power connections available....

Though I would not bother personally. I would prefer to use one of the spare PCIe connectors and plug that into the EZ plug on the board for nice and even power to the cards. The 780s will run PhysX better than the 580 logically and it's not like they are breaking under the strain with the framerates you have.

Also installing the 580 is going to drop your PCIe lane speed for the second card to x8....though if you're running Gen3.0, this might not be a big deal...

turn vsync on and see how that goes.
and physx use card #2.
you will not go over 60fps on that tv at all.
dont instal nvidia experience, when instaling do a custom instal and turn it so it dont instal it.
whit me it would turn down the settings from what i had em on.
