CROSSHAIR VIII DARK HERO: CPU_OPT header for second fan?

Hi there

I'm just wondering if it is recommended to use the CPU_OPT for the second CPU Fan or if I just can connect both CPU Fans with a Y-cable on the CPU_FAN header?
Is there a difference?

Thanks & regards

If you use CPU_OPT the fan will be monitored and RPM adjustable. If you use Y-cable only one is monitored and RPM is cloned.

Hmm but regarding the User Guide they work both on shared control. Doesn't that mean that they always work on the same "speed"?

Correct. The RPM is matched across both headers

Ok thanks for your reply.
Just an additional question - is it safe to use the AIO_PUMP or the H_AMP header for regular fans? I would like to connect my two 200m front fans to it.

Hi,

Yes that's fine. You should be able to switch between DC/PWM in Q-FAN.
