Crosshair V Formula Z

Hi guys

I'm upgrading from a gtx 760 that has done everything I've needed from it.

The card I was looking to replace it with is a gtx 980 but I a little worried about specs I have read stating it is a PCI 3.0 card whereas the MB has PCI 2.0 slots. (This card is too expensive to find it isn't compatible) + is it worth forking out for the TI version or the strix TI?

Yes, the Strix GTX 980 will work fine on the Crosshair V Formula Z. 🙂

Thanks on clearing thay up Chino, I've seen builds incorporating both said gpu & mb but nothing to state wether further modding was needed to get them working out of the box.

PCIe 3.0 hardware is backwards compatible with most all PCIe 2.0 boards.

The Ti version has a bit more horsepower, but it would really depend what games you play.
Intel i9 10850K@ 5.3GHz
ASUS ROG Strix Z490-E
Corsair H115i Pro XT
G.Skill TridentZ@ 3600MHz CL14 2x16GB

The games are'nt the only reason for upgrading, I'm looking at putting another 1440 monitor up, possibly a 3rd, the 760 would die under these conditions, Like I said in my OP the 760 hasn't let me down thus far but I like the peace of mind knowing I have my security blanket to hand.
I play a bit of everything, I'm hooked on skyrim & FO3, FO3 being the partial reason in upgrading my gpu.
My steam library has 64 games in it that have bearley been touched.
Games I'm hitting at the moment are:

Medieval II totoal war
Sins of a solar emipre rebellion
Arma 3
Shadow of Mordor
FO3 (waiting with baited breath for No4)
Skyrim

do the TI version if you can afford it, im running 2x acer G-sync predators 1440P monitors on a 980TI.
it have the same outlets as the 980 does but 2 times the power almost.
