CPU cooling advice

I have a Corsair H80 and I get an annoying Humming song from the pump I heard that by reducing the speed the pump runs at I can stop the humming sound. Or should I

1. Stick with the H80

2. By the NZXT sentry 2 fan controller and reduce the pump speed

3. By a new Cooling system

If anyone has a better Idea or a fix please tell me.

Thanks

Hi there 🙂 The H80 has a variable speed pump doesn't it? Pressing the button on the pump gives you three speeds. Do you mean that even at the lowest speed it "sings"? If so maybe RMA it.

If you are fed up with it (as was I with my H100) get a proper loop set up or get a NH-D14 which will work just as well.

Are you overclocking? if so reducing the pump speed bellow the lowest setting you'll have to watch your temps closely!

The H80 Fan speed can be changed but the pump Speed can't so it running max all the time. I have an old coolermaster V6GT I might put that in the last thing I want to happen is the pump fails and my CPU gets fried. I'm saving for a proper loop set up.

Ah, OK that does make sense cooling wise. People do seem to put fan controlers on them and get the rpms down to 1800 to control noise others run them unmounted and thrash them about until the noise stops! long thread here http://www.overclock.net/t/1236923/corsair-h100-h80-h60-noise-grinding-pump-fix-official-corsair-res...

But yes, save up!:D
