Hi

First new to the Forum, my name is Andrew and require some help if possible.

My System: -

ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO
SAMSUNG PRO 960 2TB M2.2 SSD
3GB SATA HARD DRIVE
ASUS GTX 1070 GRAPHICS
I7 7700K 4.2GHZ INTEL PROCESSOR
CURRENTLY CORSAIR VENGEANCE 32GB (4x8 GB) PC2400 RAM.
BLURAY WRITER X2
WATER COOLED
SOUNDBLASTER Sound Card

When above is all in, the PC is running perfectly. Everything works, Windows 10 64BIT boots with no issues what so ever. All in System Devices are working. This is with the 32GB Ram.

I purchased a set of 64GB Ram, installed but the PC has problems with the ram. I am going into BIOS and setting XMP which finds the RAM and puts all the correct timings, voltage and 3200. My existing ram runs at 1.2v but the 64GB runs at 1.35v. The timing is 16 18 18 36.

What happens is in the Bios it works ok, when Windows runs it crashes. Sometimes the Windows will run but then in system devices there is missing drivers or exclamation marks on some of the devices. Unable to use them. If I load windows and go straight into the operating system after loading it just freezes and have to turn on the pc. If I leave the boot before putting in my password for a length of time it does go into windows. But as said not everything works. Seems to crash in windows.

As soon as I put the 32GB ram back in, everything works perfectly.

Am I missing something or is there any advice as would prefer the 64GB in the machine.

Thanks

Hi dj_clubber

Welcome to the ROG forum !

In the bios on the Extreme Tweaker tab try setting:

CPU System Agent Voltage 1.20v - 1.25v
CPU VCCIO Voltage 1.20v - 1.25v

Start with both at 1.20v then 1.25v if needed, let us know how it goes.

Hello,

The 64GB Ram kit might have faulty memory sticks?
Try 2x16GB then switch to the other 2x16GB.

Ideally you should run something like memtest86+ to help pinpoint any issues.

Is the 64GB stable at 2133Mhz, without XMP enabled?
