Computer illiterate. Don't know what SSD to use in PC.

As the title says, I'm in a need of a new SSD, but I don't know how to check what I have, what I need, or how to install it (or if it's hard). I have a ROG Strix G15CF and as far as I can find it uses a M.2 PCIe, but I don't know how to verify this and all the links for the G15CF are leading me to pages that no longer exist.

Hello jennla1299

According to the specs, the ROG Strix G15CF has the b660 motherboard which supports 12th Gen cpu's, DDR5 memory and M.2 NVMe pcie 4.0 ssd's.

I personally use the Seagate Firecuda 530 1TB NVMe pcie 4.0 ssd. You could probably go up to a 4TB ssd if you want.

Amazon.com: Seagate FireCuda 530 1TB Solid State Drive - M.2 PCIe Gen4 ×4 NVMe 1.4, PS5 Internal SS...

This should be a picture of your motherboard. You'd unscrew the two screws and remove the M.2 heatsink.

Once the heatsink is removed, there is a latch at the end of the ssd holding it place, turn it to unlock it and remove the ssd.

Install your new ssd and turn the latch to lock it into place. Be sure to insert the ssd correctly as it can only go in one way. Push it in until you hear it click, this lets you know it's fully seated.

Then screw on the heatsink and you're ready to install windows.
