Hey everyone,

I'm building my first computer and this is what I have currently. Was wondering if anyone can comment on what I have thus far. Also I'm looking for a good SSD to run my OS. Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Mike

Case: Antec Dark Fleet DF-85 or Antec Twelve Hundred - Not sure yet which one
PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro 1000W
CPU: AMD Bulldozer FX-8150
MOBO: Asus Sabertooth 990FX
NIC: Intel EXPL9301CTBLK Network adapter
Harddrive: Seagate 3TB Barracude 7200RPM Sata 3
SoundCard: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium

Video Card: ???? I'm looking to run just 2 monitors... Looking for a good method to do this. Not sure if I should do 2 cards or just the 1
SSD: ??? Looking for more than a 120GB
RAM: Not sure here but I'm liking the AMD performance Edition 8GB DDR3 1600MHz 8-9-8 clock rate. Any advise on the RAM?

Am I missing anything else I would need?

Thanks

Intel SSD, OCZ SSD best bet. Not sure to others. But that for me.

Video card, depend on your needs. ATI 7950 or GTX660/

You dont need a 1KW power supply.

RAM, many choices, look around which deem fit your system.

A single Asus GTX670 DCII TOP will do two monitors... and it's a pretty one... 🙂 Not sure on the AMD side... recently I didn't tried any of them...

Alrighty so I kind of revamped my specs a bit here and took some of your advise... thank you very much for that 🙂

Case: Antec Twelve Hundred = $176
PSU: Antec High Current Pro 750W = $94
CPU: AMD Bulldozer FX-8150 = $180

(MOBO and SSD came at combo price) = 369.98
MOBO: Asus Sabertooth 990FX
SSD: Crucial M4 256GB

RAM: 16GB AMD performance 1600Mhz 8CL = $100
NIC: Intel Gigabit CT 10/100/1000 PCI-E Ethernet Network Adapter = $37.90
Harddrive: Seagate 3TB Barracude 7200RPM Sata 3 - $140
SoundCard: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium - Free I have it on my other PC I'm getting rid of
Video Card: ASUS GeForce GTX 670 - $419

Grand total = $1516.88 + taxes 😞 = $1714.07

Is there any particular reason you need a dedicated NIC, is there a problem with the Sabertooths built in LAN?

Other wise nice build.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Unless he is thinking of network teaming which is very rare accept for server.

Does darkfleet has vent hole in the floor, for psu?

if not, its a tall case, and the cpu 12v cable may end up short, if psu is turned with fan in the up position... just a thought

I'd wait to purchase the 8150 as prices are about to drop with upcoming new design. One would think that a new amd chip
series should be coming
