Build Advice for a gaming PC

KamiXZ
Level 7
Well, I need some help cant decide what is good and what not ....
I tried to get some information on how to build a pc, compability and so on ,but need some advice of experts like you.

So well:

Budget: Around 2200€
Main uses of intended build:gaming
Parts required: all parts

Parts I choose:

Case:Thermaltake Chaser MK-I
Cpu cooling: Cryorig R1 Universal
Motherboard: Asus x79 Deluxe
Graphic card: ASUS GTX780TI-DC2OC-3GD5
CPU: Intel i7 4930k
RAM: G.Skill DIMM 16 GB DDR3-1866 Kit
PSU: Corsair CS750M 750W (Golden Stuff)

Previous build information (list details of parts): Well, a ****ty one I would say 😉

Case: Standard cheap no name case
Cpu cooling: Intel® BXRTS2011AC (well its not this one , but it looks the same)
Motherboard: ECS GT 7050VT - M5
Graphic card: Nvidia Geforce GTS 450
CPU: Intel core 2 duo E8400
RAM: Elixier 4GB ddr2 (dont know the mhz atm)
PSU: A no-name PSU called SL-500A

Monitor resolution: 1920x1080

Storage requirements: Well I dont need very much, just for couple of games and musik

Will you be overclocking: No, because I dont know how this works. To be honest, I dont want to burn my new pc down 😄

Any motherboard requirements (no. of USB, Xfire/SLI, fan headers): Not, really. Mayber, but I dont know them.

Extra information about desired system:

Well the system should be enough to play games. And it should last some years without exchanging parts. Well the new z97 boards are coming, but i dont know if they are better than x79.

If you could give me some advice it would be very nice :).

For gaming what you want is GPU horsepower so go big on that...X79 is a bit overkill for gaming and the new Z97 boards and Devil's Canyon CPUs should be great for gaming and compared to 2011 will save you money you can spend on GPUs

Maximus VII Formula and a top end unlocked and soldered Haswell refresh with a nice 4.5GHz OC ....16GB of fast RAM....Trident X and one or two 780Tis would be excellent.

Get a 240GB SSD

Get a H100i to cool that CPU

And get a decent PSU....it is the heart of the system and you can't skimp and save here....decent 850w with lots of amps on single 12v rail or 1000w to run two GPUs and OC them...Seasonic make great PSUs

I agree with him on this part, spending money on the X79 will be extreme, for the one fact that he's not going to ever use this board to it's fullest potential, and I realize you have a 2.2k budget, but allocating the budget towards a z97 and GPU's will actually make you future proof. I say this because having the extra cores, would only really help in situations such as encoding/music production/video editing, and in some cases doing heavier tasks requiring the extra power gamers wouldn't even touch upon if you don't overclock. One thing I missed out too, is if you don't plan on adding more than two 780 ti's in SLI, stick with Z97, if you're going triple or quad sli, then you're better off with the x79.

This is what I'm currently waiting for, and I'd recommend this now, because when the newer x99 chipset comes out, you're going to feel a bit cheated with all the bells and whistles it carries with ddr4 ram :P. But another reason for going with the z97 now with the 4790k, is you can sell the system away if you want to take the x99 route later, you'd only take a loss maybe 10-15% of what you spend, but it'll save you much much more than if you were trying to sell your x79 system priced against the x99 chipset.

X79 isn't overkill for gaming depending on what you do with the game.

But overall, Z9/87 can still game really well.

To be honest, even the 780Ti is overkill for just gaming at standard full HD resolutions. You'll be way past 60fps on max settings in every game
My advice? Invest a 3x 1920x 1080p setup.

Thermaltake makes ****ty cases.

Get better cooling. H105 or Kraken x60.

120gb SSD is fine, I don't get why people recommend 240GB when you're still pretty much only going to use OS. OS won't degrade enough to see more than 1-2 seconds difference.

No truly enthusiast system lasts for "some years". Sure, it'll game for maybe 4 years or so, but it won't be "new".

GET A GOOD PSU. OMG. I go crazy when people say the PSU isn't important, and who cares about the PSU, and that you can't show it off.
EVGA or Seasonic, or any other Superflower or Seasonic made PSU. 80+ Gold or Platinum, fully modular.
Say hi to the next generation.

You're list looks great and I agree you should go with the best psu you can afford seasonic is a good choice. I like the chaser MK-I it's a cool looking case I own 2. Take a look at the corsair carbide 540 I use that one also very nice case. Good luck on your build & welcome to the board..
Current: MSI Xpower Gaming Titanium | 7700K | G Skill Ripjaws V 3000 16Gb | 960 EVO 500Gb | Intel 730 480Gb | Seasonic 1000 Platinum |
NZXT X62 | Acer XB270HU | EVGA 1080 ti FTW3

Secondary: R4BE | 4930K | G.SKILL 2400 16GB | Corsair AX 1500i
Intel 730 240GB + 480GB | EVGA GTX780 ti sli kpe | Custom H20

Thank you for your advices. 😄

I experminentend a bit and thats the part i changed

Asus Black edition MB
Corsair h100i cpu cooling
be quite dark power pro 10 - 850W Platinum with 70 amps on 12V lines ( multirail) -

Dont know if 1000W would be better or even Seasonic PSUs are better ???
Seasonic didnt have multirail so far...Is multirail even useful? I read it would be safer if somethings breaks....? I hope the PSU isnt a cheap crap for 200€ D:...

Also changed to G.Skill RipJawsX PC3-17066U 2133MHz - Hope they are any good, need maybe more advice in this section... 🙂

Well, you said Thermaltake aint that good case, but could you recommend any good case where the WC fits good and have good looks too=?

Thank you as always 😉

If you go with the RIVBE go for something from either G.Skill Ripjaws Z (tailor made for X79) or Corsair Dominator Platinum....a 2400 16GB kit I reckon...

The PSU.... you are better off with a single 12v rail I think...and seasonic make the best arguably though of course they have good competition from some other makers...Check JonnyGuru for PSU reviews...

Great watercooling case http://phanteks.com/Enthoo-Primo.html though of course the looks is a personal thing. Or D900...lots of good WCing builds done in that....

But I got another problem now....the Black Rampage MB dont fit in the Chaser MK 1 ..... 😧

I got some suggestions, but more would be great for a case 🙂

Thanks
