boot stops with D6 error

Hi All,

My new build isn't booting... there is a LED on MB that runs through a bunch of numbers. It goes through CPU (red light), DRAM (yellow light), and the VGA (white light) comes on then eventually gets stuck on - then the boot light (green) comes on and both white and green lights stay on.

Allegedly, the D6 light indicates that there is no graphics card detected. I have unseated the graphics card and put it in multiple slots, etc.... still nothing. Also tried updating the bios using the flashbios utility on the motherboard. Also reseated the M2 card.

Are you using the PCIE power adapter cable that came with your MSI RTX 4070? It should have two 8-pin PCIE connectors to one 16-pin connector.

You can try reseating your RTX 4070 into the the first PCIE X16 slot and double check the power connections.

If no help, try different monitor cables, HDMI, Displayport.

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't get any cables with the MSI RTX 4070. I just checked the instructions and there was no cables included according to the instructions. 

I don't know if this means anything but the fans on the card turn in both slots. 

Also, do you think different cables work solve the issue?  I wouldn't think the D6 error would get thrown due to the type of cable connected to the monitor. But I totally could be wrong.

Your MSI RTX 4070 should have a 16-pin PCIE power connector, do you have this connector and is power connected to it?

That is weird...I have an 8 pin on my card.

Thank you for the pictures.

Apparently, some RTX 4070's have the 8-pin PCIE power connector. Not a big deal, it looks like you have power connected with a 6+2 pin PCIE power cable and is fine.

 So, maybe it's the monitor cable causing code D6. Would you have other monitor cables to try?

You could try turning your monitor on when it's booting up.

It turns out that either the monitor was crap, kept shutting off too fast, or the cable was bad. I swapped both and it booted.
