Bios update on X670E-E gaming wifi bricked my motherboard

Hi everyone,

today i wanted to update the bios version of my ROG Strix X670E-E gaming wifi from version 1709 to 3402 (the latest one available). after the update was done the pc wouldn't post and just showed "C5" on the Qled display. before the update everything worked just fine. the pc booted. As this bios version does not allow to rollback, i'm affraid my motherboard is bricked.

Is this fixable or do i have to wait until a newer bios version appears?

I tested both ram sticks and both show the C5 error en any slot available on the motherboard.

Hi @KingRoberto1993

C5 is a memory initialisation code. How long were you giving the system before concluding it was stuck?

  • Press Clear CMOS via the motherboard's rear IO panel

  • Disconnect the AC for 5-10 seconds, then reconnect

  • Power up. Wait 10 minutes to ensure initial memory training is concluded.

If no change, use USB Flashback and reflash BIOS 3402.

Use a FAT32 formatted USB pendrive, renaming the file to SX670EE.CAP

Report back.
