If you're on a budget I would just look for whatever is on sale. I think Scan is a big place over there? All current SSDs are going to be faster than a regular hard drive so if you're on a budget just about anything would be a good upgrade. The only concern then is reliability so if something has a good price or rebate then look for reviews to make sure it doesn't have a high fault rate.

If I tell you what's on sale where I live, it might not be the best deal where you live so that's why I say to just look for what's available. You might try http://www.hotukdeals.com/ as I think it's your UK equivalent to Slickdeals over here. Just search for SSD

The price of SSD in the UK is very good right now. There are often deal of the day type specials. ARIA, EBUYER, SCAN, OCUK and DABS to name a few.

As to best - well here is the thing, most of the SSD's are all using the same controller and buy their NAND from the same factory. Those that don't are all Samsung, Crucial, some Intel and some OCZ.

Right now get the biggest sized SSD that your budget can afford and enjoy. For me the 256GB Crucial M4 at £101 was a no brainier.
