Best 64GB RAM kit for 2700X / Crosshair VII Hero

Hi

I’m wanting to do an upgrade / build, with some new parts:

Ryzen 7 2700X
Asus Crosshair VII Hero mobo
64 GB DDR4 3200Mhz CL14

This is an editing rig. I’m currently using a 4790 with 32 GB DDR3 and the way I like to have my work setup (with large RAM previews), the current 32GB’s is limiting on larger projects. That’s why I’m going for the 64 GB.

My biggest concern with this is getting 64GB to run at 3200MHz with CL14 (14-14-14-34) timings on the C7H. I’ve read several posts regarding best RAM setups, here and elsewhere, but the info regarding 64GB is more sparse than info from those using lower capacities.

I’m aware of the Ryzen / X470 platforms better compatibility with Samsung B-die single sided modules, but I’m not aware of any 4 x 16GB – 64 GB kits that would be single sided, and I’m pretty sure that doesn’t even exist due to the higher capacity on a 4 module kit.

I know there are some stilt memory presets on the C7H, briefly shown here on Steve from HU’s vid
https://youtu.be/71TtWwbWP-g?t=354
and mentioned I think in another DerBauer vid I saw, but again this appears to show only single sided modules.

Question: Are there any memory presets on the C7H that would work with a kit like the G.SKILL TridentZ Series 64GB 3200 F4-3200C14Q-64GTZ ?

It’s Samsung B-die with the better 14-14-14-34 timings – but again, it’s dual sided.

That or something like the G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 64GB F4-3200C14Q-64GVR
https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820232232
It’s also Samsung B-die with the better 14-14-14-34 timings – but again, it’s dual sided. (and usually cheaper than the 64GTZ)

I’m looking at 3200 MHz tight CL14 as the sweet spot for performance with the 2700X, based on other reviews and posts. I don’t care about the look, LED, etc. It’s going in a closed case – performance is what I’m after.

I’d be curious to hear from any other C7H owners who can confirm they’ve gotten 64GB 3200MHz CL14 to work and what they’re using.

Thanks

jackflynn, did you ever get an answer or complete your build? I am looking to build a very similar machine and I can't find anyone running 64GB @ 3200 with a 2700x, let alone on the CH7 motherboard. There aren't any 64gb kits on the QVL at that speed, or on any memory manufacturers configurators. I don't care about the CL timing at this point - just want 64gb that can take advantage of gains from infinity fabric.
