B850-E GAMING WIFI will not POST on Restarts only

Hi all,

I have had this issue since owning the motherboard on BIOS version 1066. I had hoped that subsequent BIOS updates would resolve it, but the problem persists even on the latest version, 1087. I have tried numerous troubleshooting steps without success, including adjusting Memory Context Restore, DDR Reduction, CSM, and Fast Boot, disabling EXPO, clean installing Windows 11, Fast Startup, and even installing a brand new different model of RAM.

Someone on reddit (link attached) has the exact same issue as me but he seems to have given up

Have you tried using a different M2 slot for your drive? Do you have the latest firmware installed for your 980 Pro 2TB drive?

What CPU are you using? Which M2 slots have drives and how you are using them like which one is OS drive and which one is data drive etc.

Hi,

Ryzen 5 7600 stock

980 Pro latest firmware

I am using the first slot and only slot, just a simple setup.

That’s a tough issue you’ve already covered most key troubleshooting steps. At this point, try fully clearing CMOS and loading BIOS defaults, then test each RAM stick in individual slots to isolate any slot or DIMM faults. Run MemTest86 outside Windows to check for errors, and if possible, test with known-good RAM to rule out compatibility. Update chipset drivers and ME firmware, or roll back to a previous BIOS version to see if stability improves.

Also reseat the CPU and check for bent pins, then test with minimal hardware connected. If the problem persists, gather logs and contact the motherboard manufacturer  it may be a hardware or BIOS-level issue that needs direct support or RMA.

I think I might have found the issue. It could be the motherboard unable to find my USB-C(power and connectivity) main display and somehow not being able to fallback on my HDMI secondary monitor during POST. Resulting it being stucked when restarting. I noticed this happen mostly after a Windows Update. I used the USB-C on my RTX 2080 Ti which may have outdated drivers/hardwares.

I am changing my main monitor to the HDMI monitor instead and will monitor.

EDIT: It doesn't POST after restarting again. I give up, will RMA the board finally I guess...

Tried changing the USB C monitor to HDMI and still no luck. Well, guess it's time to RMA the board finally, hope it gets sorted soon!

@0th3rs  How are you connecting your monitor, keyboard and mouse? How is your Keyboard and Mouse connected like USB-C dongle, wired or Bluetooth? Have you tried using just 1 monitor and have that monitor connected using Display Port cable instead of USB-C or HDMI?

I am having the same issue; my Pc will not post after putting to sleep or shutting down. I need to unplug ac cable to get it to properly boot. Pc is brand new, less than 3 weeks old and was booting up fine.
 - Pc will boot but monitor, keyboard and mouse will not fire up.

@alxfnts  How are you connecting your monitor, keyboard and mouse? For you monitor, are you using Display Port, HDMI, USB-C? How many monitors do you have? What graphics card are you using? What CPU are you using? How is your Keyboard and Mouse connected like USB-C dongle, wired or Bluetooth?
