Audio codec and Theta 7.1 Headset

Hi There.

I am/was about to buy the Theta 7.1 headset.

I run a ROG Strix Z790F and I noticed, that it has the "ROG SupremeFX 5.1 Surround Sound High Definition Audio CODEC ALC4080".

Will my Z790F with that 5.1 codec be able to give the Theta 7.1 enough input to give me that full 7.1 surround experience? -Or do I need to upgrade to fx Maximus Hero which has the "ROG SupremeFX 7.1 Surround Sound High Definition Audio CODEC ALC4082"...?

Hi @hechristensen77 ROG Theta 7.1 is a USB headset. This means when you connect this headset to a USB port on your computer, it will bypass the ROG SupremeFX device so it does not matter what your audio device configuration is on your PC. The audio device is for analog or optical (via SPDIF) connection only. Connecting anything via a USB cable or a Bluetooth connection bypasses your audio drivers.

These headset and devices can either us the generic Windows Drivers or you can install the device drivers from the manufacture. In your case, as per the manual you will need to install Armory Crate to install and control your surround sound experience.
