Asus X99-a no boot with Q-code 63

Hi everyone,

I ran into some problems lately, long story short, i changed to order of my HDD into different sata port and at one point, one of my sata SSD disapeared. So disconnect all of them except the SSD, bios could'nt find it, changed the SSD to another sata port and then ok, reconnect the other ones, still disapeared. Disconnect the other ones, bios could'nt find the SSD, then connect my sata SSD to another Sata port but this time, bios still did'nt find it. So i decide to load bios default (F5) and save & exit without loading optimized, this is where it got really bad.

After that, could'nt get to bios when restarting, the board stopping at/with code 63 (maybe b3)

Pretty sure it's 63: "CPU DXE initialization is started"

I tried clear cmos, took the battery out. Only 1 stick of ram (wich i tested other sticks too) in both D1 & C1 (the others got me a bip saying it does'nt belong in that slot), Disconnect all drives, disconnect all usb. My psu & cpu fan work, gpu fan start for a second but stops, tried MemOK, TPU switch to I, EZ XMP to enable (both was previously disable for years). Of the 4 POST state LED, only DRAM is on, CPU, VGA, Boot device isn't open. The board is out so no shortcuts.

I tried flashing bios to previous version, but it does'nt complete the update: Brenamerl.exe rename .cap files as X99A.CAP but the board does'nt seem to find the files, the bios flashback button light still on. I rename X99AU31.CAP just like in the manuel and the ONLY bios version that gets trought the complete update process is v.4101 wich is the version that was in, all the previous version that i tried to update does'nt go trough the complete process and i get the bios flashback button light on. I've read that when flashing bios, it sometimes resolve the problem, but the board isn't able to complete the update. On that subject, do i have a 2nd bios, if yes, how do i activate it? Is changing the bios chip worth it?

I just can't believe that a simple "load default" in bios could have fried something there, i mean c'mon, really..!!

Anyway, i think i've tested lots of what i've seen in this forum, any further help/hints would be really appreciated, thanks.

I would recommend doing thorough visual inspection of  CPU,  CPU Socket,  Motherboard VRM  (front and back of motherboard), inspect  +12v EPS connectors.   Remove CMOS Battery and all power for 48 hours.  Clean CPU and RAM contacts.  Be sure your PSU is output correct Wattage on needed 12v, 5v and 3v rails.   Moving HDD and SSD to different ports may have triggered Secure Boot Key Fault.   X99-A 3.1 Motherboard manual will describe location of Backup BIOS and How to change between BIOS if you have that feature.

When perform USB Bios Flash -  Make sure  USB is formatted in FAT32 file system before copy .CAP files onto USB.   Sometimes USB 3.0 drive will not work in USB 2.0 bios flashback USB port.

Be patient.

Thanks for the help. All of your tips were tried. I was able to buy a used computer on the same platform and tried the cpu on that board...did'nt work, i guess i have my answer.
