ASUS TUF GAMING B760-PLUS question

tonycstech

I have Z690 Hero Maximus and i absolutely hate that motherboard.
Problems with sound static noise. Games are glitching. GPU is stuck in X8 mode with X1 device plugged into PCIE slot next to it which is absurd. My old Z170 motherboard was not cutting PCIE lanes like this one does.

Anyway, is ASUS TUF GAMING B760-PLUS a good board ?
It does seem to have what i need and all i need is PCIE X16 and be able to plug PCIE X1 device into second PCIE slot and have all 16 lanes on the GPU still.
Is that possible with this board ?
Anyone have a setup similar to this ?
I mean literally, any device plugged into second PCIEx16 slot will disabled 8 lanes on primary PCIE slot for no good reason.

Thanks !

Hi @tonycstech if you can provide a full system build details then people here can help you better.

Problems with sound static noise.

Regarding static noise, please see https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-motherboards/rear-i-o-detecting-headphones-as-speakers/m-p/1024... post of mine if this helps you out. Since you have not provided any details about your setup, I am not sure how much of help this post will be.

Are you hearing this static noise in your headset or in your speakers? How is your headset or speakers connected? What is the exact make and model number of your headset or your speakers?

Regarding your rest of your questions, once you provide complete system details, someone will be able to start helping you quickly.

INTEL i9-14900K / CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB 192GB (4x48GB) 5200 CAS38 / ROG Z790 DARK HERO / ROG TUF GAMING RTX 4090 OC / ProArt PA-602 Case / SEASONIC PRIME TX-1300 ATX 3.0 / CORSAIR MP700 PRO 2TB PCIe Gen5 / CRUCIAL T500 2TB PCIe Gen4 / EIZO CG2700X

everywhere.
Static comes from USB Audio, realtek built in sound device.
I am not alone complaining about this so system details wont do much.

Hi @tonycstech I am really sorry to hear that you are not having a good time.

Without your system details, I am not able to understand anything about your build to help you out.

everywhere.
Static comes from USB Audio, realtek built in sound device.

Realtek device and drivers are for analog or Optical (via SPDIF) connections only. When you connect a USB Device or a Bluetooth device then you either need to install the drivers of the device you are using or Windows will use the generic drivers. You will not use Realtek drivers at that point as nothing is routed via Realtek device.

This is why I was requesting if you can share your build details maybe someone here can help you solve your issues. Even if not fully, they can get better to an acceptable state for you.

i did not connect any USB bluetooth device.
the realtek built in sound chip is called USB Audio in the BIOS, thats why i reffered to it as such.
Its just built in realtek audio

Hi @tonycstech thank you for sharing this additional information.

I apologize for misinterpreting your message above. Can you please share what is the make and model of your headset or the speaker that is having sound issues? How is this sound device connected to your PC?

As an example, are you using some wired headset ( a device that has headphone and a microphone which is typically used with mobile phone so you can listen and talk using the same device )  , or a wired headphone ( a device on which you can listen only. This device will not have a microphone ), or do you have some desktop speakers connected? Whatever device you are connecting where are you plugging in the wire? In the Back or in the front panel of your case?

Can you start "Realtek Audio Control Panel" application and share your screenshot here AFTER you have clicked on DEVICE ADVANCED SETTINGS at the bottom (shown with RED background in the screenshot below)? My screenshot looks like below.

My speakers and headset are irrelevant. Noise comes form motherboard sound output, not from the speakers or heatset.
Google Z690 static noise

When I google, it took me to https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/intel-700-600-series/realtek-random-loud-static-z690-hero/td-p/913353 post here. The YouTube link is dead so I still don't understand your issue.

I am assuming you have the firmware update for audio installed from https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1200/ROG%20MAXIMUS%20XIII%20EXTREME/USB_Audio_FW_Update_Too...

achugh_0-1725774320700.png

I am referring to the 2023 update here for which I also provided the direct link.

I get that the sound is coming from the board and not from the speaker or headset. I was requesting if you can share what type of speaker or headset you are using on which you are hearing this sound and where are you connecting your speaker or headset?

The Realtek chip is integrated with rear, front and optical as 3 separate paths. Not every path is broken. If you would like see my attempt to get ASUS correct Realtek sound issues on Z790 DARK HERO board then please checkout https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-motherboards/can-asus-support-fix-realtek-audio-drivers-with-bo... post of mine.

Lastly, the alternate TUF board you are looking at will have the same audio issues possible since all ASUS motherboards for Intel are currently using Realtek chip. So it is possible that the same audio issue persist in them. This is why I was trying to understand your issue better so we can work together.

Yes than you. I found that reading posts on redit.
Hopefully it works.

Great. Hope this Firmware update solves your issue.

I also found your https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/intel-700-600-series/gpu-stuck-in-x8-no-nvme-drive-no-pcie-devices-plu... post with bit more information about your setup. Even this post does not talk about how your audio things are connected.

Hopefully, you will not have to come back here about your audio issue as it will get resolved. If you still have issues, then detailing how things are connected with a picture will give you a faster resolution this time around.
