ASUS Z790 FORMULA + SSD M2 990 PRO SAMSUNG

Do I understand the instructions correctly where it says that if I use the M2 disk:

The M2_1 port will run/use at full speed SSD but the GPU will be limited to x8 speed.

And when will I use the M2_2 port for the disk?

Will the M2 drive run at full speed? Will the GPU socket work at x16 speed? I can use M2_2 for operating system without any loss while retaining the x16 GPU?

Hey,

Yep, the M2_1 slot will run at full speed while the first PCIEX16 slot will be only at an interface of x8. The second PCIEX16 slot will be disabled. No problem with installing the operating system on a M2_2 slot. The GPU socket will run @ x16. Remember that M2_2 and the remaining SSD NVMe slots are designed for PCIEX4.0. You may use the grahical interace ports this way without any loss in performance.
