Asus rog strix g15 advantage - GPU questions

So I just got this new laptop and maybe I'm not understanding how the graphics cards work in it. So it has the integral card built into the cpu and also the 6800M. It list the 6800m as discrete/hybrid and appears the other graphics for the integral is the primary. User benchmark shows it as the integral as primary and obviously is delivering a low gpu score. Is there a way to switch the 6800m to primary or am I just not understanding how it works? I haven't installed a game yet to test fps but I want to make sure I understand how this works. This is the first laptop I've ever owned as I've always used a desktop.

Secondly gpu power saving always shows always on. I turned it to turbo , still shows on?

Any help for clarification is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Userbench has this post about the issue and how to fix when testing with it

I downloaded catalyst but that option to fix does not appear.

It is a poor man version of benchmarking program anyway, and it is biased towards its corporate sponsor(s) as well. You would be better off using one you pay for anyway. I only use this thing as a basic dignostic tool.

Laptops with both integrated and discrete graphics are designed to switch automatically so you don't need to do it manually. Integrated uses less power so it will be used for basic desktop work until you need more performance for a game. If the discrete graphics aren't working when you play games then you should worry.

Both of my laptops also don't switch automatically with userbench, benchmark program. It will run on the AMD integrated GPU and not the NVidia discrete GPU, from my experience with this. However that said, your right in that games everything works correctly.

Would you happen to know another way to get userbench operating on the discrete gpu, by chance, as the above method is only one I knew of for the OP.

Unfortunately I don't know much about userbench. It's not a tool that I use. My guess is that they have not done the work to make it compatible with systems using hybrid graphics so yours might be the only way to sort of get things working.

Mainly I wanted the OP to know that for what counts (games) no intervention should be required. When that fails, you have a real problem.
