Hi everyone,
I built a new beast and it will be the first time using an M.2 configuration. I've run into some issues and hoping to obtain some assistance. The system specs are as follows;
Asus ROG Rampage VI Extreme
Intel Core i9 7920x
4x 8GB G.Skill Trident Z 3600mhz (issue here for another thread)
2 x Samsung 850 pro
2x Samsung 970 pro
Anyway, the issue I'm currently having is setting up these 970 pro's with this motherboard. Call me stupid but I've read the User guide and tried to google but can't seem to come across what I need to do to get these firing.
Currently the way in which I have mounted these 970 M.2's is using the ROG DIMM.2 Expansion card into the DDR4 DIMM.2_slot.
My GPU is mounted in the PCIE_X16/X8_3 slot.

I have pulled the following from the specifications off the Asus site;
Intel® Core™ X-series Processors (6-core above) :
1 x ROG DIMM.2 Module support(CPU_DIMM.2), M.2 X4 with M Key design, type 2230/2242/2260/2280/22110 storage devices support (Support PCIE SSD only)*1
1 x ROG DIMM.2 Module support(PCH_DIMM.2), M.2 X4 with M Key design, type 2230/2242/2260/2280/22110 storage devices support (Support PCIE SSD only)*2
1 x U.2 port, , support PCIe 3.0 x4 NVM Express storage
Intel® X299 Chipset :
1 x M.2 Socket 3, with M key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (both SATA & PCIE mode)
6 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s),
Support Raid 0, 1, 5, 10
Intel® Rapid Storage Technology 15 support
Supports Intel® Smart Response Technology
Intel® Optane™ Memory Ready
So this would mean my CPU can only support 1x 970 in the M.2_2(DIMM.2) slot regardless of whether or not I am using the ROG DIMM.2 expansion card?
How do I go about getting these things firing? It's so frustrating to have spent so much money and not being able to use things. Any help would be appreciated as I'm seriously pulling my hair out over this thing and wasting my time trying to figure it out rather than using the system for what it was intended for.
Thanks
