I have this strange but very frustrating issue with my Asus laptop. The keyboard completely stopped working. It’s almost as if it’s not plugged in. The strange thing is the power button which is part of the keyboard works fine and lights up. Everything else (touchpad, usb ports, etc) work with no issues. The keyboard doesn’t respond at all even in the BIOS.
I tried replacing the keyboard and palm-rest with another one and it didn’t work so clearly the keyboard isn’t the problem. I looked at another thread for a similar model and it seems it’s a firmware issue with the keyboard controller. I tried to follow a link to the Asus Keyboard tool but all the links are dead so I have no idea. Is there anything I can do to fix it short of replacing the motherboard?
