Asus Crosshair Formula Z VRM Heatsink Dimensions

Hey guys,

I want to get an Asus Crosshair Formula Z for my PC to compliment my AMD FX8350 Vishera CPU but I have a bit of a space issue...... Im currently using an Asus M5a99X EVO R2.0 in my corsair carbide 300r case with the Corsair H100i liquid cooler and you are talking literally 2mm of clearance between the top of my RAM sticks and the heatsink on the left of the MOBO as you look at it (heres an example of the kind of clearance im talking about however this isnt my board- but i have a similar issue-http://cdn.overclock.net/5/52/525a2cf4_P1176423_zps9134d6d2.jpeg) and what i want to know are the dimensions of the heatsinks on the crosshair formula Z- specifically the top heatsink- as corsair in their infinite wisdom have put the top exhaust mounts very far back leading to the space issue. If the heatsinks are too tall i may have to think about drilling new mounts further out or possibly constructing some kind of fans outside the case deal.

So if someone could give me accurate measurements of the heatsinks on the crosshair formula Z it would be very much appreciated as the whole internet has been absolutely no help thus far.

Thanks

pleasure to be here 🙂

yeah its the same as in the image i linked in my OP- the Corsair Carbide 300r heres a link to it on amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Carbide-Series-CC-9011017-WW-Windowed/dp/B008B6ONXA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UT...

In that case, it looks like a tight fit. Perhaps you would experience problems when plugging in the 8 pin and 4 pin power cables. Here's a 300R build using another company's motherboard with big heatsinks up top too.

In a worst case scenario, you can mount in the front.

i do have an 8 pin power connecter on my current mobo as well as it does fit in with an aftermerket CPU power extension cable......i think my best option would be one of the two i have suggested above to be honest

yeah it will be a tight squeeze- mounting the fans in the front may not be an option as i will lose my HDD bays however i have heard people saying you can fit it in either by mounting fans on the outside or drilling new mount holes towards the side of the case if the top heatsink is a "standard" size

Well, you never know until you try, mate. You're a smart guy. I'm sure you can make it work. 😉

Another alternative would be to get slimmer aftermarket fans. That way you won't have to mod your pretty case. Whichever you decide to do, please do keeps us updated. I'm curious to see how everything turns out. 🙂

I will do man im looking into possibly getting some scythe slim fans in push pull for my h100i that would be sick if it fitted and kept my temps down but we shall see how she goes ill def post pics on the ROG forums when im done 😛
